"Stayed initially for three night but enjoyed it so much we had two more nights there. The apartments are well appointed and quite private. The rooms were spacious and well fitted with a jacuzzi in the bedroom. Quiet in grounds of large house on outskirts of Vila de Punhe about 4miles from Viana do Castelo. Easy access to the town. The staff were very nice and the owner was very helpful. The views were lovely over the area and vineyards. Everything worked well and had no problems."

"We really enjoyed our time in Maria’s place. She gave us a lovely welcome and made us feel at home. We loved all the space and the house and grounds were beautiful. The kids loved the pool and the garden including seeing frogs in the pond! It was very easy to get to Braga and Porto, wished we could have stayed longer! Thank you!"

"The pictures does not do this place justice. It is unbelievable beautiful. We had to pinch ourselves that we were actually there throughout the week! "This guy needs to communicate with guests better. I requested how to get in the day before, then twice the morning of my arrival. I didn't hear from him until 2:30 pm and check in was at 3. I was in Braga at that point and had to go wait in a cafe until I got his email. (It was raining) When I showed up at the place, a couple was outside trying to get in. Then later, after I returned around 8 pm, another couple was outside who couldn't get in. I let them in."

"Lovely clean property and owners went out of their way to welcome us and help make our holiday special. Great setting in view of the sea in an unspoilt part of Portugal. Only a short drive to the city delights of Porto (I recommend parking in Matosinhos and catching public transport or the hop-on buses) and Viana do Castelo worth a visit."

A wonderful Gem

"This place is unbelievably beautiful and wonderful. The hotel uses nautical flags instead of room numbers as a nod to the town’s history. The rooms are large, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was a very good European style breakfast. What really makes this place is the staff. Albert checked us in and then gave us a brief history of the hotel and explained different sites around town. After walking around a bit, we promptly booked a second night. This will be my go to when coming to Viana do Castelo "

"I stayed in this fabulous chocolate hotel in early October when I was walking on the Camino way. After a 10 mile day of walking, it was wonderful to get there and berated with a wine spritzer with chocolate shavings, delicious chocolate bar, and a beautiful hotel. The breakfast was included and was absolutely fabulous. I highly recommend this place. "
