"Where to begin. The outside looks great then you get into the actual building. It starts off with no lighting in the hallways. Once getting to my room we encountered a Smokey, cold dwelling with hints of dog or other animal. I attempted to view our non-functional TV moving on to our patio impeded by plastic lounge chairs stacked up to the ceiling . "Accueil sympathique mais c'est tout...en 4 nuit les serviettes de bain n'ont pas été changées et lits n'ont pas été fait...chambre et salle de bain minuscules pour 3, literie de très mauvaise qualité, très mal insonorisé, pas de fenêtres, clientèle très bruyante, pas de gel douche ni de shampoing et 1 seul rouleau de papier toilette en 4 jours...bref hormis l'accueil sympathique et la proximité du centre ville rien de bien. On est quand même presque 100€ la nuit a ce prix là nous attendions...

"Bonavista is at the edge of the tourist area, in a quiet part of Calella. 10 mins away from the beach, the same distance to the main street with the restaurants & shops. It is a very basic hotel, but very clean. Rooms were cleaned & bedding changed daily. When we arrived it was very late & the night porter opened the bar for us so we could have a beer, which was great. We asked for extra pillows & towels & received them within minutes. "Great hotel, with friendly staff. Really good value and the breakfasts were good. Ideally positioned in the old town away from the noise of the bars at the far end of the resort, and only a minute or two to the beach. The area is beautiful and even being the world Cup final weekend (which I didn't realise when I booked it!) it wasn't too loud or rowdy. Very pleasantly surprised by both the hotel and the resort. Stayed for 5 nights with 2 friends."

"One thing - if you use Google maps it will take you up a tiny street you cannot turn around in. I dropped off my partner and then was committed to a very slow 20 minute drive through small alleyways with pedestrians to find the way out and parking. It was just a 6-minute walk downhill back to the hotel but still kind of a stressful experience. Not the hotel's fault... Hotel and rooms are awesome. Just don't drive to the front door."

A comfortable stay in Girona

"The hotel is comfortable, quiet, and very clean. It is a 10 minute walk to the old town and a 5 minute walk to the train station. The neighborhood has cafes and stores, including a supermarket a few paces from the front door. Clean towels every three days, no coffee/kettle in the room, but otherwise perfectly acceptable."

"Wonderful property that's close to old town site seeing but not loud that can happen if you're in the middle of everything. Being on top of the hill has the advantage of best place to see the city below and sunset from the beautiful roof top terrace over the mountains on the other side of the city. The location also can make it a bit difficult to walk bach to hotel as other reviews have noted. It's not that bad and if needed you can stop to catch your breath on one of the walls. It is a very short walk to the shops and restaurants down in the old town area. Everything was well cared for and clean. They have an online restaurant and bar so you don't need to head down again if you want to stay there in the evening. Area seems safe and is residential so no need to worry about being out late at night. Highly recommend this modern friendly hotel!"
