The service was great and it was a very quiet area so we were able to get the rest needed. It is a charming historical building, so although it is very dated, we were totally fine with it. The location is somewhat remote…..it’s a sleepy town, just what we wanted.

5hrs before check in we received an email from a member of staff called Jodi telling us our room with private bathroom was not available (allocated to someone else) and that we would have a room with a bathroom in the public hallway. Unapologetic, discount not on offer, although the bill still stated we were in an ensuite room that we booked weeks in advance. Bathroom turned out to be a tiny shower room and tiny toilet room separate in hallway. Key left on table in an envelope when we arrived, no reception desk of any description so no face to face discussion was possible. Will never go back and would discourage anyone else going there.

Loved the old nostalgic charm of the place! Proprietors have upgraded the bathrooms. Breakfast was delicious and was served on white tablecloths with cloth napkins. We had a very delightful, attentive server who was the owner, Jodi. Loved her! This place, however, is not for perfectionistic, fussy people as it is an old lodge built in the late 1920’s. If you want 2020, go to a box hotel.

The staff are very helpful and congenial and breakfasts and service were great. Even a straight backed chair in the room would have been helpful, a place to sit, a way to reach the towels, hooks near the sink for face cloth and wet towels would be appreciated. Chairs on the beach would be a bonus

This is a unique place to stay for sure. Built in about 1930, it has a lot of character but if you are looking for the most modern amenities, don't stay here. That's not what this place is. But it is well worth a visit, and next I have to stay in the area, I'll be back.

This lodge is a blend of nostalgia and modern facilities. The staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. They stored our inflatable kayaks inside for our us, and gave us access to an enclosed fire pit. I loved that we got away from the city and were steps away from a sandy beach, golf course and nature trails. We were in the unique position of being the only people staying at the lodge at the time, so the television room with a mini fridge and Keurig (coffee and an array of tea and hot chocolate) and shared washrooms were only being used by our family. With Covid restrictions, food and drink had to be consumed outside or in our own rooms, but good weather and a covered veranda made this no hardship. This was a perfect break for a family of essential workers who needed a peaceful and fun holiday.

Perfect stay
Nice little room, with a private bath, the bathroom was newly renovated and had a great big shower with plenty of hot water. The bed and pillows were very comfy - just wish they had rooms with Queen size or King size beds LOL! It was super quiet and with the windows open and the fan that was provided we didn't miss the air conditioner at all.

Even though our cabin was in a row of cabins and trailers , we faced the woods so was very peaceful . It came with complete set- up for making your own meals - dishes , pots and pans , fridge , hot plate , toaster and a gas bbq outside . Tiny but most of your time is spent outside . Fabulous sandy beach , shallow for quite a ways so great for small children . Cabins are very clean but somewhat musty if you have sensitivity to that I would not recommend . Otherwise a very nice spot . Good food at the restaurant as well .

Very family oriented and old character.
A lot of history with the property in its rustic appeal. The rooms do not have anything special, the beds are clean and comfy. The staff is extremely polite, and accommodating to anyone's wishes. It took us a bit to figure out where to check in, but we always find out how to. We would go back there to disconnect again from our busy life at work/home. My husband did not have any cell signal via Telus, nor I through Bell. However, my Rogers network permitted inconsistent reception. This is why it is a perfect place to disconnect!

Like camping but better.
We stayed in a cabin so I can't rate the rooms. The cabins run the range of amenities but we stayed in two and neither one had a/c (or a fan), hot water, a tub or shower, a kitchen sink, or insulation. The staff was terrific, very friendly and helpful. Hailey in particular went out of her way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The first cabin we tried had a great porch outside but was in rather a dilapidated condition. I didn't like the kitchen, the fridge or the lack of electrical outlets. There was a double outlet in the kitchen and the fridge was plugged into one of them. There was one other outlet and it was hanging from a naked lightbulb in one of the bedrooms. That was it. We were going to leave after the first night but were offered a different cabin. We liked it much better. No porch but I liked the tiny kitchen, the fridge and the outlets in every room. My recommendation would be to ask to change cabins if you don't like the first one you see. A short walk to the beach and there is a restaurant at the main lodge that I hear is excellent. I would not recommend staying at one of the cabins in the winter, even though there was a small heater in both the cabins. They weren't insulated and you could see outside in some places. The bottom line is that we enjoyed our stay. I would suggest coming prepared for rustic living and you should have a good time.

What a terrible stay. The room was small with few amenities. It was cold. There was no way to get food. The free breakfast was a fallacy.
