A luxury oak shepherd's hut, hand crafted and professionally finished by us, The Acorn is a delightfully styled interior. The accommodation comes complete with a well-equipped kitchenette, a cosy bedroom area with double bed, and a comfortable dining area with two wing back chairs. A shower room with walk-in shower enclosure, wash basin, and fully plumbed flushing WC completes this lovely retreat. With plenty of rural charm, outside is a lawned area with a wooden dining table and chairs, a firepit where you can sit and enjoy the panoramic countryside views or relax in the wood fired hot tub whilst gazing up at the night sky. The double doors let the sunshine flood in, and you can sit in comfort as you enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner, listening to the birdsong. Located in the grounds of Sea View Farm, with views of the sea in the distance, The Acorn offers couples an opportunity to rest and relax whilst enjoying the glorious Dorset countryside. Nestled just three miles north of the popular town of Bridport, you are well situated for exploring the Jurassic Coast, West Bay, Charmouth and the numerous quaint villages nearby, or for an amble to the nearest pub. The highlight of the outside facilities is by far the private wood-fired hot tub, freshly filled with filtered spring water with no chemicals & heated on demand to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Heating from cold takes approximately 1-2.5 hours depending on the initial temperature of the water, and once heated and finished using, the insulation keeps the heat in nicely ready to kick start for your next session. We are generally on hand for help with the fire should you need it and will happily get it ready for your arrival, and throughout your stay should you need it (Subject to prior arrangement and our availability) You also have exclusive use of the fire pit, complete with cooking grill and perfect for sitting by in the evenings. Outside dining table and chairs, with blankets and cushions for outdoor use gives you all the tools you need to enjoy the panoramic countryside views all the way to the sea at West Bay. The grassed area outside extends to the fenced farmland, which is used for a variety of purposes, from grazing animals to growing crops or a hay meadow. The outside space is not specifically segregated or totally enclosed, but there is plenty of space for spreading a blanket or mats for exercise. Self check-in with as little interference from us to ensure that you have the most relaxing stay possible. We are always on hand by phone, message, email or a knock on the door on the other side of the farm. Most of our guests arrive by car, however the cost of a taxi from the town centre is reasonable, with Bridport being serviced by busses to and from Dorchester, Axminster and Crewkerne, all of which have good train links. We have electric bikes available to hire on a day rate, a great way to enjoy the fresh country air, and if you want to leave the car behind. As well as the plenty of footpaths on your doorstep, there are numerous things to do within walking distance, two pubs that serve food each approximately 10-15 minutes, as well as a local village shop 5-10 minutes and a Cider Orchard, 10 minutes or Vineyard 20 minutes, both of which offer excellent products and tours. A slightly further walk will get you to an award winning farm shop and café, or into the heart of the bustling market town of Bridport. Kindling and Logs for the Hot Tub and Firepit are provided to service the first evening at minimum, but generally will do two evenings depending on how long each facility is used. Extra logs can be purchased from us, as well as locally sourced charcoal for the ultimate BBQ. Alternatively, there are also plenty of local stockists. We accept up to two small dogs, please keep them off the furniture and bedding. As we have farm animals, we request that dogs are kept on leads whilst on the property for their safety as well as our animals. For your convenience, parking is on hardstanding close to the hut.
