"My second time in a year to the Lake District. Great Hotel and excellent rooms. My room was flooded with light and a big comfortable bed. Heating was great and the house keeping. The breakfasts are fantastic and certainly worth the indulgence. It’s located in a lovely village, with breweries, pubs, tea rooms and local craft shops. I highly recommend a stay. "

"Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location overlooking Hope park. The room was immaculate, the bed was great, bathroom spotless and the views have to be some of the best in Keswick. ALL the staff were very helpful and the hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast was also fantastic with everything local and fresh. All in all a fantastic place to stay, thank you."

"Unique, beautiful property. I was really well looked after, cakes and biscuits in the afternoon. The breakfast was amazing-couldn’t fault a thing. My room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. I would absolutely recommend a stay here and would love to return one day. "

"nuce clean hotel bedding good but room was quite chilly for us did serve us food before time which was nice has we looked for quick stay didnt relise no lift witch was quite upsetting has we both had walikn issues im a full larengetomy re cancer so my breathin going upstairs wasnt good did help with main case goign up coming down the stair wa not nice "

"Me and my partner had a fabulous stay in this beautiful cottage. The food and staff were great and with my partner being heavily pregnant they reached every demand she had with ease. We stayed with our dog and she had a great time too meeting some other furry friends staying there as well. 10/10"

"We stayed in a Shepherd's hut and it was great! Lovely location for going walking (only about 10min drive from a car park to go up old man coniston) Was super cosy and warm inside the hut, everything you need to prepare food, a tv to watch Netflix etc and bed was decent. It did get quite damp in there at night leaving the corners of the bed a bit wet in the morning but nothing too extreme. (Might be worse after more than 2 nights though.) "Lovely hotel with great staff. Very clean although the room and bathroom were not huge. Newly decorated it was very clean - great shower. Great parking and access to Ambleside. Only grumble is the continental breakfast went out for cooked breakfast on 1st morning "

"Love staying at Dorchester House. Lorraine is such a wonderful host, always helping with any information we need and goes out of her way to help me with storing my luggage before checkin and after checkout.The location is fantastic, just next to the Town centre and bus stops. "We had a really lovely stay. The food was very nice. There is so much to do at the Woolpack. They have lots of games such as darts and pool. It is incredibly homely. We visited in the winter and we were made very welcome. "

"It was clean and well presented, the owners were very friendly and helpful, the room was warm and comfortable. The bathroom was clean, fairly spacious with a most excellent shower. We missed breakfast the first morning due to taking part in an event, but found they had left us some bananas and apples for us. We had the full breakfast the next day which was spot on. And they have their own parking spots for 4 cars! Definitely will use again , as we had a lovely stay. "

"We thought the hosts were really lovely and the location of the guesthouse was ideal for us for walking. There are two pubs within walking distance which serve fantastic food: Coledale inn and Royal Oak. However, we had a downstairs room and seemed to have been really unlucky with the guests upstairs who woke us up every hour during the night. Thankfully, we were only staying a couple of nights as we were absolutely exhausted by the end. Would recommend a stay, just maybe ask for an upstairs...

"I received a call 24 hours before our arrival (on New Years Eve),telling me the booking cancelled due to 'gas issues' in the apartment. I was told they would arrange for Expedia to search for alternative accomodation. "This is such a special place, historic, scenic,homely,warm and welcoming. The garden suite was outstanding and the food quality excellent. The only thing I could possibly complain about was the Guiness as sad as that is. It frustrates me incredibly when I order a branded draught beverage and it comes in a different branded glass. The Guiness was poured in one go whereas the connoisseurs of the black beauty recognise and appreciate it’s a slow patient process leaving mid way to stand for a while. I did not like to inform the extremely pleasant and obliging Italian barman in the error of his ways. Apart from that minor misdemeanor we can’t wait until we return. "

Brilliant second stay

"This was our second stay and it didn't disappoint. The only issue was on arrival with there being feather bedding in the room which we'd spectacled to be removed prior to arrival. However as soon as I mentioned it , it was resolved and non feather replacements were in place immediately. Service at breakfast and check in was excellent as was the super fresh breakfasts. Fresh fruit , beautifully cooked choice too. Staff were great and when I asked for some toothpaste as we'd forgotten ours we were provided with some , again immediately. The surroundings, furnishings are all great. Home cooked treats at the entrance are a lovely touch. Thanks guys and hope to see you again soon. "

"The Daffodil is conveniently located for easy access to Grasmere and the nearby lakes. It is ideal for a walking holiday and is surrounded by the beautiful Lakeland fells and lakes. The hotel staff are friendly and the hotel offers a good menu with a range of meals at reasonable prices. "
