Great place for a graduate student - just not for me
The location was perfect for my purpose of being with family in Boulder. However, as a person well beyond graduate school age, I was disappointed with this space. The host will say that I was not happy before I moved in, and she would be correct. The abandoned cars, motorcycles and bicycles in the parking lot were not a welcoming impression. (Nor was the wafting of cannabis in the common entryway.) The overgrown tennis court was not playable - likely for years - making the property description (and photos) a little suspect. (I believe that the property description has since been changed.) The host will also say that my expectations are too high - like the Boston brownstone! Again, she would be correct - I am a retired professional engineer who has worked many years to afford to live in and appreciate a nice place. (Note, that my high standards also mean that I maintain the space to those same high standards.) The host did respond to my requests, sometimes with a bit of push back, but nonetheless, resolvable issues were resolved. The host was responsive but we were unable to communicate effectively. Conversations (via text or VRBO messaging) were circular, accusatory, and mutually frustrating: not healthy nor productive - and detracting from my reason for being in Boulder. For these reasons, I vacated the property 2 weeks early and forfeited the possibility of a refund in order to find a situation in which I would be more comfortable. This place was just not for me.
