"Beautiful old building overlooking the ocean. The staff was great. They were extremely polite and helpful. The only issue for us was the noise during the night. There were some loud guests in the hallway and It sounded like someone was drilling above us until midnight. We had to get up at 5 so it ended up being a short night of sleep. "

The view is simply phenomenal overlooking volcano Masaya which had a minor eruption on Dec 22, 2024. The hotel also overlooks lake Masaya, an old volcano crater. Using natural light with the imposing structure gives the visitor a sense of harmony with the rest of his surroundings. Hotel Colon is worth repeating again and again. "

"Excellent balance of luxury and immersion in nature. Key things to know: stunning beach where we never saw more than 2 other guests, the cabanas are open to the wind and sounds of nature but the way they are secured with screens and sealed doors resulted in zero insect visitors (and the wind and cooling unit over the bed provided for a very comfortable temp), and there will be a need to traverse many steps throughout the day. Lastly, the views here are unlike anything we’ve experienced before....

"This was a last minute hotel for us. The staff was great, room was spacious, and the grounds were amazing. The volcano view from our room was breathtaking. Definitely an all around great find and we will be staying here again next time we are on the island of Ometepe."
