Deckhand's Quarters @The Boat Shop overlooking Paradise Bay

We welcome you to enjoy your vacation in this beautiful two-bedroom rental in the heart of downtown Beaver Island. Located close to the Beaver Island Marina, this rental puts you within walking and biking distance to restaurants, stores, entertainment, and pristine beaches. The large covered deck gives you a fantastic view of the harbor during the day and offers a relaxing place to take in the star-filled nights.

Leave your cares behind while you enjoy your visit. This rental offers two bedrooms with Queen beds and a full-size fold-out couch for extra sleeping. All linens are included, shared laundry facility. HBO Now, Netflix, and Internet included.

You will be staying over at the historical St James Boat Shop. The Burtons built this new shop in 2017, and the craft continues with Dan Burton and his family. We have been crafting handcrafted cherry wood boats and buckets since 1985.

Clean, spacious and comfortable. Beautiful view of Paradise Bay. The location was perfect. I would stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone looking to visit Beaver Island.

Wonderful Vacation Location
We had a great 5 day stay at The Boat Shop. Our apartment was well appointed with a fantastic view on the long deck. It was close to the grocery store, the brewery and a breakfast/lunch place. We rented a car one day from the boat shop and e-bikes the next day. Fantastic stay, I loved being able to drop in at the grocery and plan a meal or two to cook at the apartment.

We enjoyed the Boat Shop location for our long weekend, it was great walking distance to the main street blocks and the Deckhand Quarters was great for us with the full kitchen, wonderful deck views, and overall laid back vibe. We look forward to returning!

It was our first time to Beaver Island. We loved every minute of it! Our stay was awesome. Room was just as described and a great location. Clean, roomy, easy checkin/out. Rented a car and it was well worth it. We hiked trails that were so quiet and beautiful! Highly recommend St. James place when staying on the island!

Amazing!
We had a wonderful stay here at this rental. It was very clean and comfortable. It is also in the perfect location and has a beautiful view of the water. Carol and Dan were extremely friendly and nice. We really enjoyed talking to them in their awesome boat shop store downstairs. We definitely hope to stay longer next time!

The view of the water from our deck was wonderful and peaceful. Low key host. We had all the amenities we needed. The island is beautiful. Found several isolated beaches, walking trails and birding trails. I love the history of the island. People are friendly. Take a car on the ferry with you if you can. You’ll have a lot more access to the island.

Great Location and Rental Unit
Great location on the harbor and easy walking to the ferry and the main street. The shared porch is not an issue as each unit has a good section for use. No complaints about the unit. I definitely recommend for a long weekend. We also rented a car from Burton’s which was equally as adequate. Carol makes checkin and checkout very easy and unlike another car rental on the island, Burton’s is organized and legit — papers signed, the vehicle was waiting for us as expected, etc. We will be renting again.

Love the location, nicest owners EVER!!
Brought my dad over to Beaver Island for Father's Day - his first visit. This apartment/condo is all brand new! I think we may have been the first to stay. Clean, fresh, and spacious. Beds were super comfy with soft linens and nice pillows Deck overlooking the lake was huge. Love the location being right next to the grocery store, and the Dalwinnie Bakery & Deli which is prefect for breakfasts and lunch. Town is walking distance if in decent shape. My older parents had a hard time with that as well as the steps to get up to the second floor. Owners are the nicest people, and even let me borrow her car to run to the gas station after the grocery store was closed! Upon arrival, she picked us up at the ferry dock and gave us a quick tour of the town area. They own the boat shop below, and make some awesome stuff, so be sure to stop there as well! I will most definitely stay here again on my next visit!

Dog waste
Theey rent to people with dogs and no garbage can to put dog waste in. We were told yo dispose of it in are kitchen garbage. Which we were not going to do so everyday sometimes twice a day we had to go to the beach garbage cans and dispose of the waste there. Also only one sharp knives and toaster didn’t work and this wasva full kitchen. And one bedroom didn't have a screen. The beds were very comfortable but the pillows were flat and old. Bath towels were very thin .

The fall colors were spectacular and our lodging was perfect. Small town charm and friendliness made this a perfect escape from our busy lives. It’s a beautiful place to visit with great food!
