"I was very satisfied, I had booked a single room but was upgraded to a family room with a double and two single beds with a sea view, tea making facilities and TV. A very nice clean bathroom. The only thing missing was a fridge. But for £34 per night, it was brilliant. The gym and swimming pool was very good for just £2 per session. I did not have breakfast in the hotel so cannot say if it was good but I thought £12.50 might be a bit overpriced, however I did think that the £15.50 3 course evening dinner was very well priced and of decent quality. Different people made negative comments to me about the hotel before my stay so I was very nervous, but I am happy to say they were very wrong. I will never hesitate to return there. It might become a regular place. The only thing that might cause concerns is the long walks to get to some rooms, if you have limited ability you might need to mention it when booking. The staff I met were all very friendly and efficient. I'll be back. Thanks."

"The hotel was immaculate throughout including the public areas . Check in was friendly and helpful and the food was of a very high standard The location of the hotel next tot the lake and ferry terminal was ideal "

"It is such a beautiful and peaceful place. The lodge was very clean, spacious and well equipped. Walking along the lake is beautiful. There's lots of nice activities too so especially for children. We took a speed boat in the lake which was exciting. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi, the minigolf, playing ping pong and the arcade. The food in the restaurant was delicious too. We'll definitely be going again :)"

"Very good room with sea view. Food was also very tasty. Only problem is that dining room faces west and isfully glazed from floor to ceiling. As we were lucky to have a cloudless sky (despite a biting cold wind) dining at 6pm meant that the sun was too hot. I think fitted blinds are needed"

"From arrival to departure. we have found a lovely Hotel. thank you all the staff. Arrived early morning. parked the car. went for a walk from behind the hotel along the river then the Canal to the sea and back . then into the room and then a swim and Sauna. at night into the town which was not far. we will stay again. "

"Friendly and polite staff from reception to bar/restaurant to housekeeping. Beautiful decor giving all public areas a sense of comfortable style and an upmarket but ´ at home ´ feeling. Rooms were spacious enough and bathrooms clean and well maintained. The only tiny niggle was the dinner menu which wasn’t hugely inspiring (mainly in the starter area) and also the pie which, although filling was absolutely delicious, was not encased in pastry but also the pastry topper was bit stodgy and not flaky puff pastry. As I say a tiny thing but when coming up North from London you look forward to an excellent pie. The other mains were excellent and all were piping hot. Breakfast was also fine, nicely cooked full breakfast and lots of choice for cereals, yogurt and toast, although didn’t see any croissants, as was on the menu. We visited as a large family group, overall a wonderful stay and all have said we would stay here again. Thanks Crooklands. "
