"I had no idea when I booked this that it was a historic property. It was like staying in a National Landmark building...big, old world craftsmanship, richly appointed. Very pleasantly surprised."

"We were pleasantly surprised by the Brydone Hotel. It is an old hotel but one that has been kept in decent condition. Our one-bedroom suite was spacious and its bathroom would not have been out of place in a major city centre name brand hotel at four times the price. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful making our stay even more pleasant. We also ate in the hotel restaurant and found the food to be both plentiful and very appitising. The Brydone is also much better located than the myriad motels that line the main road into town. From here it is only a short walk to the Steam Punk Museum, the harbour and shops of the historic district. "

"Kakanui is a beautiful small town with lots of activities to offer. Kim is easy to communicate with. The place is clean and has what you need to eat at home and sleep well. Comfy beds, and warm blankets. The sunroom is lovely with a fantastic view of Kakanui beach and the rivermouth. Nice garden to walk around the property. Kind neighbors too. We will stay there again"
