"I was looking for a place in the mountains with access to water to spend a five day silent retreat. This place was absolutely perfect. Everywhere you walk there are streams of water coming down from the mountains. The water is so clear you can drink it straight from the stream. I slept on the front porch most nights because you could hear the water running all night and the weather was perfect night and day. The hosts, Bill & Rosalee, were fantastic,very accommodating. They arranged for their yard man and his son to take me wherever I needed to go including the airport on my way back. I forgot to bring a jacket. They provided me a jacket and a rain poncho. A on everything."

"Casa Sofia is a modern well appointed property that sits just below the crest of a hill. The views the southeast and south are absolutely stunning especially just after sunrise and approaching sunset. The mountains across the valley are lush and unspoiled. Photos really can’t do justice to the actual views from the property. The open concept living room, dining area and kitchen are good sized and four adults will not feel cramped. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. If you are going to cook, we recommend the Walmart in Cartago for staples and the Saturday farmers market in Paraiso for fresh fruits and vegetables. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space if you plan to stay for more than a few days. Onsite washer and dryer worked nicely for us. The owner, Vera, was on the property while we were there. She and her staff were extremely responsive to our communications - either in person or via messaging. We highly recommend a stay at Casa Sofia. "

"We have stayed at Steve’s and Nancy’s for two weeks and experienced their hospitality, friendliness and such a warmth. Loved the place : super comfortable, very private yet close enough to know the host is there when you need them. Steve and his helper rescued us from a very daring car trouble for which we were so grateful. We enjoyed the tranquility and spectacular views, jacuzzi on the huge terrace was awesome. We will go back next year."
