We paid quadruple at other ryokans and this one had the best food, best location and the best onsens. It’s an older place with older, big onsens and for us that was the charm of it. The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind. We went skiing one day and snowshoeing the next and ended up seeing a red fox each day. Really can’t recommend this...

The owners didn't speak too much English, but I was able to make due with my limited Japanese. The AC in the room was weak, but being Hokkaido all I had to do was open the window with the screen and my room was perfect."
