"What a great find, the staff were really helpful and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door. The place clean and the food (breakfast choice and quality) was great. The location is excellent for hiking and exploring the local village. Now planning a return"

"The hotel is set in the picture book village of Hawkshead. The place itself is a beautiful old house with original features throughout. The rooms are a good size with really comfortable beds and are pet friendly. The village itself is beautiful, with several different places to eat and within walking distance of Ambleside (6 miles). The service at Ivy House was excellent. Greeted by the friendly owner with a bottle of fresh water and shown to our room. You can also text the owners your breakfast order the night before and specify what time you would like to eat which I thought was a great touch. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing stay, with a view to doing some walking or sightseeing, with the option of excellent food in cosy pubs, I couldn't recommend Ivy House any higher."

"A lovely comfortable room, with amazing views. It can be a little noisy if you're a light sleeper. Convenient location in the middle of Ambleside, close to Windermere. Bar is very nice with a decent range of drinks. I'd happily stay here again. "

"Very pleasant stay. Very dog friendly. Staff very helpful. Food excellent. This hotel is in the centre of Ambleside. Only small negative is the charge for dogs of £15 per dog per night. "

"Stayed for 2 nights with my wife. In a comfy room which had been refurbished. The room was compact but unless you were planning to spend a whole day in the room, it was perfect for sleeping and getting ready for the day. We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who showed us to our room and explained the facilities and was really friendly along with the other staff throughout our stay. Nothing was too much bother and were always willing to help. The room was clean and the bed very comfy and had two fantastic nights sleep. Breakfast was good with quick service. Parking on site and ample. Only a 10 min walk if that to the town itself. Would defo recommend this B&B. "
