Year Round Lakeview Cottage with Dock on Lake Champlain

Year round activities in a private lakeview cottage!

Winter:
We are located on the VAST trail (Corridor 78) for snowmobiling with direct access right out of our driveway! Plenty of off street parking for your trailer and machines. Amazing ice fishing right in front of the cabin as well! An hour from Jay Peak, 1.5 from Smuggler's Notch, and 2 hr. from Stowe Mountains for skiing and riding.

Spring:
Spring skiing in the mountains or mountain biking once the snow is gone. Visit a Maple Sugar house, see maple syrup being made, and try the famous "sugar on snow." Of course, Spring is amazing fishing here; it is prime time Salmon and Walleye season in this area!

Summer:
Boating, fishing, swimming, biking, hiking all directly from our cottage! Our dock is directly across the street. A short 5 minute walk down the road will take you to a beautiful sandy swimming beach. Summer concerts, beer festivals, food fairs, farmer's markets, amusement parks, are all 30-45 minutes or less on a day trip to Burlington, Montreal, or St. Albans. Visit the Vineyards and farmer's markets or go antiquing in the Champlain Islands, 10 minutes away.

*We do now share our dock and deck/access with the neighbors, a nice couple. They do not live there full time and are very rarely around so most of the time it will be all yours! They do not have a boat on the dock so that will be the same as it has always been; open and available for your boat during your stay!

Fall:
Foliage is breathtaking in this area! We are connected to the gorgeous Lake Champlain Islands via bridge, only a beautiful hour drive from Jay Peak and 1.5 hours from Stowe with amazing foliage and views! Many Fall fairs, apple festivals, brewery tours, vineyards, music festivals, and of course fall fishing! Duck and goose hunting is big in this area this time of year as well.

For Fisherman:
This area is known for catching unbelievable trophy winning small and large mouth bass, walleye, pike, perch and crappie literally right off our shore! Bass really love the trestle bridge out front and the Missisquoi river to the north. If it's salmon you are after, a short boat ride south will get you in fantastic salmon territory! Hog Island Market is 2 miles away and accessible by car or boat in minutes for fishing licenses, live bait, tackle, boat gas, and snacks. Campbell's Bay Campground is 3.5 miles away for fishing licenses, boat gas, pontoon rentals, tackle, snacks and is accessible by car or boat as well. This spot is MADE for fisherman!
We are located in between the Route 78 Alburgh/Swanton bridge and trestle bridge in East Alburgh, VT. We have a large off-street parking spot, with electricity, for your boat and trailer. You can drop in at the Larry Greene/West Swanton public launch 1/4 mile away (just across the bridge) and tie up to our dock with-in minutes! Our dock is directly across the road from our cottage. Keep your fishing and boating gear safe and secure in our large screened in porch.

For Golfers:
We are located 15-30 minutes from 4 fantastic golf courses! Voted one of the best in Vermont, Alburgh Golf links, is 15 minutes away with beautiful lake views. Champlain Country Club and North Country Golf Club are both 20 minutes away. If you bring your passport the Club de Golf International 2000 is right across the border 25 minutes away!

For couples and families:
Our dock, directly across the road, has a 10X12 ft deck for swimming and sunning with easy access to bring all the water toys you'd like. A row boat and life jackets are included in the rental. Our bay is calm and great for kayaking and SUP. Storage under the deck for all your toys as well. A short 5 minute walk down the road to the south of the trestle bridge, will take you to a beautiful sandy swimming beach that is typically deserted so will most likely be all yours! There is also access to walking and biking trails there. We have a very large and private backyard for lawn games and 2 fire pits for roasting marshmallows under the stars. We are 2 miles from the Missisquoi National Wildlife refuge with great nature trails and bird watching. Sandbar beach on Maquam shore, just a few miles to the south, is a popular spot for anchoring, swimming, and picnicking for the day. We are an hour from Jay Peak, Montreal, and Burlington if you are looking for more public adventures.

The cabin has been completely refurbished on the inside with brand new beds, memory foam mattresses, and linens. We want your stay to be as easy and effortless as possible so we are providing bedding, bath and swimming towels, and toiletries for your comfort. We also have a fully stocked kitchen with new stove, fridge, microwave, utensils, cookware, dinnerware, coffee pot, toaster, ect...

Your rental includes free WiFi and a new smart TV to easily watch and listen to your favorite Pandora, Netflix, Amazon and YouTube music and movies and much, much, more!

Sleeping arrangements: 1 queen bed in the first bedroom. 2nd bedroom has an adult bunk with a queen on the bottom and a full size mattress on the top. The loveseat in the living area folds out into a twin. We can sleep 4 single adults, a family of 5, 2 couples, or 2 couples and 2 children comfortably.

We are year round and have heat for cooler months and AC in the Summer. We have an attached screened in porch for all your toys and gear that wraps around into a covered deck for grilling and relaxing after a day in or on the water.

The cabin is smoke and PET FREE. NO DOGS are allowed. Off-street Parking has room for 2 vehicles in the driveway and an additional truck and boat trailer in side spot.

Perfect little cottage
We stayed here for the 2024 eclipse. It was a perfect location. Plan to bring bottled water for drinking/cooking/etc during your stay, but otherwise, there is everything you need for a relaxing weekend away!

Wonderful stay on the lake!
My family and I had a great little getaway for two days at this location. Check in was super easy and Khara was very receptive to any questions we may have had. The cottage was very clean, cozy, and the beds were very comfortable! Definitely am going to re book another weekend for a small getaway again!

Great location near the Lake!
This property was perfect for our needs. Close to Swanton and easy commute for our business needs. On the lake for evening enjoyment! This is a quaint little cabin whose age just gives it more charm. Checks all the boxes!

A nice cottage that’s in a great location
My husband and I had a great vacation while staying in Khara and Steve’s cottage. It is immaculate and is equipped with everything you will need for a stress free vacation. The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood just minutes away from the Missisquoi National Wildlife Reserve. Natural beauty is everywhere. Communication with Khara was excellent. We enjoyed ourselves so much that I have already booked our vacation at this cottage for next year.

Great little cottage
We had a great time. Cottage was everything we wanted. Very clean, comfortable beds, the bay is pretty calm which made it good for stand-up paddle boarding. Had a great time fishing all around the area. It is within and hour from Mt Mansfield and the Stowe area where we had a good hike. Looking forward to coming back again. Khara was great in answering any and all questions we had.

Highly recommended
The house was perfect for my needs and was just as described by the hosts. It was very clean and had a lot of nice personal touches, including everything one would need in the kitchen and helpful brochures for the Champlain Islands as well as Burlington and Montreal. Khara was very helpful and responsive. It didn't hurt that the weather was beautiful. Highly recommended!

Great rental and lake acess
We stayed here in the summer of 2017. I find the listing description completely accurate. We enjoyed our stay and the owners were a pleasure to work with. It is right across the street from the lake and has a great dock with a fire pit and seating all right there on the lake. There is great fishing nearby and due to its location it is protected from heavy wind, which is great for small crafts and kayaks. The house is well appointed and has all you need for a comfortable stay at the lake. In short, highly recommended!

Nice camp
What can we say, our 3rd time back and hope to come back again. Kahara and Steve are always available to answer questions if needed. Quite location. We enjoy the lake, fishing and a day trip to the Stowe area for some good hiking. Oh and Devins ice cream stand across the bridge. Tony

Great little cottage.
This is a cozy little cottage with extra touches that made our stay comfortable. The memory foam mattresses, linens and towels are high quality and very comfortable. The private dock is right across the street where our boys spent hours catching several fish. Steve and Khara are very thoughtful, wonderful hosts. All questions and concerns were handled immediately. Just about an hour from Burlington and Montreal made this a great location for us. Definitely a great value!

The property doesn't have a direct view although not far from the lake. Must share dock and beach.
The property was adequate it was well stocked with essentials. Owners were courteous and reacted quickly to questions, etc. The biggest drawbacks were the tv options only a few local channels and some pay for view options. the second was insects, primarily flies inside the house.

Great area in a nice neighborhood
We enjoyed our stay in East Alburg cottage. The beds were super comfortable, giving us a restful night. We did not know how to stay on their property as it was so overgrown. When we found out where [behind neighbors mailbox] we still couldn’t enter because husband discovered steps and deck were in such bad shape. Probably from recent storms. The coffee pot was old, wet, & dirty we had to purchase vinegar to clean it before using. Area was clean except for thick dust buildup on exhaust fan in bath. Microwave was used as our breadbox only because plates weren’t microwaveable. I don’t have ocd, but these little things are important to me. This cute little cottage is stocked well and will be a perfect place to stay when these dangerous areas are taken care of.

Great place on the lake
Four of us stayed at the cabin while visiting family and the space worked out very well for two couples. It's small, but laid out nicely and very tastefully decorated. We even hosted a family breakfast with an additional 7 adults and 3 kids and somehow it worked! It was easily accessible for my grandmother, who uses a cane. The screened in porch is a nice touch and the dock is a lovely spot for sipping coffee in the morning. The cabin has everything you need, a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of bath towels and fresh bed linen. The beds are quite comfortable and there were enough blankets and pillows for everyone. Khara was incredibly responsive to any needs we had. The location was very convenient to my family and was a short 1 hour trip to Montreal, which we enjoyed. You certainly will need a car, but everything (grocery stores, etc.) are within about a 10-15 minute drive. A few things to note: 1) The train is VERY close by and when it comes by VERY early in the morning and blows the horn, it is quite loud. I think this perhaps only happens on weekdays, but it was still enough to wake us in the wee hours of the morning. If you are a very heavy sleeper, you may be OK. Otherwise, expect to hear it and (hopefully) go back to sleep. 2) The water does smell like sulphur, which is very common to the area (my grandparent's water always smelled like this). If you've every visited a mineral spring, it's similar to that. It will be worse if the water hasn't been run through the pipes for awhile. We definitely noticed it dissipate by the 2nd day. You will likely want to drink bottled water, however. 3) The doors to the bedrooms stuck quite a bit when we tried to open and close them. I'm sure they were just expanding with the humidity (it did rain a fair amount), but this is something to consider in terms of privacy (they were quite hard to get and stay closed). Overall, we enjoyed the stay very much and will absolutely consider Khara and Steve's cabin when we visit again!

The Pictures Don't Tell the Whole Story
We were excited to be on a true waterfront property priced inexpensively - the impression the first photos try to convey. But when we arrived, that really wasn't the case - there is a large house between this one and the water, and you don't get these photo views from anywhere in the house. You have to walk down to the edge of the road then you get to the dock. But the swimming area there isn't that great - the owners in fact recommended we use a hidden beach down the street, and we did, and it was much better. The bottom line here - this is not truly lakefront; the surrounding homes are of variable condition; and it is next to the highway and to a railroad that came through quite loudly in the middle of the night. Inside, the place is not quite as big as advertised - we measured it to be about 600 sq. ft. at most. The facilities were new and in pretty good condition - great beds, reasonable layout, and bathroom, etc. - essentially one large open area, and two bedrooms. But the basic furnishings, particularly kitchenware, were sparse. There wasn't even one mixing bowl or salad bowl, nor colander or strainer; no large pots or pans. No wine glasses, and the corkscrew was so cheap it broke on the first use; the can opener didn't fare much better. One dish towel to go around, and towels somewhat sparse with no washcloths and two hand towels for a place that sleeps six. A washing machine and dryer were advertised in the list of amenities, but we never found them! Thankfully, adequate toilet tissue! The owners also need to be more up front about the potable water; i.e., it was not mentioned until we rented the unit. Basic, they advised you not to drink it and we had to buy a large container of drinking water instead. It was fine for dishes and washing food and showering, but it has a Sulphur odor - something we learned is rather pervasive around the area. Basically, we suggest a more accurate representation of the location, and a much better stocked unit, especially for 4-6 people!

Nice cabin but in a so so neighborhood. We fund a sock under the furniture but mostly clean. We would suggest installing security bars outside the bathtub would help getting in the shower. A light over the sink is needed. The WiFi is very capricious.

Directions in binder where private Sandy Beach is located...( Path by railroad tiles ...just passed the crossing Oil all door hinges ..that way won't wake up others that are still sleeping...since no AC in bedrooms have to leave doors open to be comfortable in the bedrooms. Remote died and no AAA batteries, so went and bought some at DG store New grill ..that one worked but not hot only front part had flames...no way to cook food for 5 people. Door code only work to get in...so couldn't lock the doors when we left...which really wanted to!?! Fire pit on beach ... should be added like the round ones neighbors Beach has ...one there was all grown up and way toooo buggy where located and no sitting around it. My recommendations to make the stay better... ones sleeping

Tired
Overall the property was fine. No dishwasher. No TV. No internet. I contacted the owner about the last two concerns. They said batteries foe the remote were in the laundry room. There was only one. I contacted about the wifi and did not get a response. We had the a/c set at 60 degrees and it never got cooler than 70 degrees. I did read prior to our arrival to bring water for drinking....but I was not prepared for the sulfur smell. Nor were we prepped for the handy man shoveling outisde our room at 8am.
