"We stayed overnight after a long drive from Fukuoka and it was quite an experience. It felt like we went camping. The service was also great with the free microwaveable light meal and drinks. The room was well maintained but since it’s a container, you can feel the shake when someone is walking. The parking is free and very convenient too. All in all it was a good stay and experience. "

"Terrible staff service. I stayed there for 4 nights because I just didn’t want to move my belongings but seemed like the more you stay, the more terrible they are. I don’t know do they have bias only for me or not but I felt it is. As I noticed the guest who only stayed 1 night or short time, They are very welcome and doing good service. From my opinion I pay money more. Either I stayed only 1 night but I also need fairness not bias. "

"Bettei Haruki is unique having only 6 spacious Japanese rooms. We loved their two gorgeous Onsen rooms which were perfect in every detail - will never forget these onsens and will miss them dearly. "Skip the buffet if you’re looking for a continental breakfast option. At ¥3300, it was pricey for a coffee and a few slices of thick cut bacon. Like most of Japan, tourism is not really geared towards westerners- which is fine, just do your research ahead of time and find one of the many off-site options in the area. "

"We stayed in the Sakura room, it was absolutely amazing! We arrived before check in and the staff kindly took our bags and held them for a few hours while we explored the surrounding area (it is right next to the hells of Beppu). The room was very clean and spacious with a private indoor and outdoor onsen as well as a beautiful garden with its own cherry blossom tree. The hotel provides you with everything you need for a relaxing onsen experience! Would definitely stay here again. "

"Stay away from this hotel: no person in the front desk; the heat was not working (-2 Celsius); no one answered the phone for customer service … worst nightmare for my stay in a foreign country that only a few persons speak English. I will try to dispute the charges for my stay. I was disappointed that Expedia didn’t step in to help!! Very frustrating and un-professional "
