"Excellent hotel made even better by a free upgrade. It is located in the Town of Helmsley great parking as they have their own underground car park. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given a free upgrade to a poolside suit which was fantastic. The hotel itself is very well maintained and feels very comfortable. We used the hotel bar which was well staffed comfortable and drinks were reasonably priced. We had breakfast in the hotel which was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Will certainly go again."

"Debbie was an amazing host, she went above and beyond nothing was too much. She informed us of everything about the area and what things there is to do locally. The room was clean and very well presented. I would highly recommend!"

"We had an executive room, which was a fantastic size. There was a lounge area, a good size desk, bathroom had a bath with a powerful shower and the bed was extremely comfortable. There was a minibar in the room, an ironing board and iron and reasonable wardrobe space if you were staying for any period of time. We parked the car in the car park which had enough spaces, even on a weekend although the spaces were tiny and hard to get in and out the car. The restaurant was quiet (no music or ambiance) but the food was delicious. The hotel had a gym which looked substantial - unfortunately on this occasion we didn't have time to utilize this service. Highly recommended and would stay again. "

"Unfortunately not a perfect stay which was very disappointing with it being my husband’s birthday, booked through Hotels.com so not allowed to use the pool unless we paid £45 each, I have never heard of this before.The rooms are very nice but paying £5 for nut or crisps is ridiculous. The breakfast was very underwhelming with minimal choice, awful cold poached eggs, cold plates, weak coffee, all left me feeling very sick! Not worth £291 for one night. "

"We had a lovely stay at the Black Swan. Very impressed with the staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was nice and the lunches and evening meals were very good too. Ideal location and lovely homely feel. Would definitely visit again, good value for money "
