"It was a very good experience a hotel des roches. We loved the staff in particular. The rooms needs to be updated but overall the location is so special with a great view and central location that we didn’t care. Probably the best stay we had during our trip in the Loire valley."

I was informed by the director that the lumps were special for comfort and that all beds have this special mattresses. I was told to turn off the air conditioning when not in the room. This is unexpected in a highly-rated four star hotel. The staff seems to believe that guests are fortunate to stay."

"This is not a 4 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. They have no coffee in the room, no laundry service. We had to check in through the restaurant since there is never anyone at the reception. At check out, we had to leave early (6am) and there was no one there again, he asked us to wait till 8 am even when we told him we had a flight. We were never even informed that reception is not available 24x7 which is the norm at 4 star hotels. Not a pleasant stay."

"This is a lovely old mansion with beautiful lush green grounds. The rooms have classic furnishings, high ceilings and give you a great feel of period living. It’s walking distance to all attractions. The restaurant serves excellent French cuisine. "

The dining option was alright and convenient if one does not want to leave the hotel but for the price paid, the food was nothing outstanding and the service was slow. The breakfast option was great although we were given false information by the receptionist that it was included in our booking so during checkout I was unpleasantly surprised with the extra amount.
