All that was in the strange shaped room was a bed, desk and a random settle without the back. I had thought there would be an occasional chair, but maybe I was expecting too much. Only one negative was we found a sealed new packet of cigarettes in the bed side table and there was a beer bottle on the balcony with cigarette buts in but other than that everything was clean and tidy."

"Last minute booking for 1 night, as got tickets to a gig at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. Absolutely loved this hotel. Quirky, clean, comfortable and the little cocktail bar off the lobby is gorgeous. Staff all very friendly. The hotel was full, so parking wasn’t a bit of a pain. I wasn’t aware you can book parking at time of booking, so would recommend doing this. £15 a night from memory. "

"Really enjoyable 2 night stay while exploring Cambridge. Breakfasts very good with no complaints, lovely building & grounds. Only negatives were that the only dining available was more a cafe than a restaurant & there wasn't a nice lounge to relax in afterwards. It would have been ideal to relax with a drink in the evenings in one of the old rooms like the Stuart Room with an open fire in it. Instead we ate both nights at The 3 Horseshoes pub which is a 5min walk & is highly recommended."

"The hotel was very well situated for our needs and Great Dunmow is a very lovely spot, with a great feel to the high street. Upon arrival we were met by the receptionist, Mandy, who was friendly and knowledgeable and helped us with the usual arrival procedures. All of the staff were friendly and keen to help. We had a meal in the restaurant that was first rate and some welcome drinks in the bar before heading off to an event in the town. The room was lovely, well appointed, quiet and cosy....
