"The staff were so helpful and kind and let us book in early because we were going to Download Festival. Each evening they would leave cleaning stuff out for us to us before going into the hotel covered in mud. Friendly and kind would use them again any time. "

"The staff at the blue jay pub were absolutely lovely and so helpful ,all i have to say is probably a member of staff needs to be alocated in the hotel to save keep walking to the pub to get extra milk ,sugar and toilet roll ,oh and the doors from the hotel room doors are the most loud and scary ones being slammed for hours and hours on end and the floor from the room above us we were room 108 is the most loudest floor heard every footstep all around there rokm so came back from weekend stay...

"We arrived early and they allowed us to check in even though we didn’t pre-book it paid the early check in fee on the day. Room was very clean and bed was really comfortable staff were extremely polite and helpful will definitely stay again. "

"The hotel has a good airy atmosphere and is very spacious. My room was rather cold but, a heater was provided (and yes it was in June). Facilities are very good. Water pressure in my room was weak for the shower but, at the swimming pool the shower pressure there was amazing. Will stay again though."

"What a wonderful place to stay! The room was beautiful & comfortable, and breakfast was fabulous. I had called twice & sent 2 emails earlier in the day of my reservation to ask about a late check-in (after 11 PM) due to an unexpected travel hiccup, and while it took a long time for staff to get back to me, the staff were amazingly accommodating & friendly, and my concerns were immediately put to rest; I need not have worried. Will certainly be back the next time I'm in the Peak District!"

"Don't get me wrong, I like this hotel and surrounding area, but this room could do with a little tlc and refresh of paint. There was a coffee stain on carpet, dead spider on upper part of ceiling, scuff marks and dust around skirting and window sill. For a family room that sleeps 4, there were 3 adults but we only had towels for 2 people and only 2 chairs on balcony. That said, I would still stay here again. "

"A very nice and comfortable hotel with excellent grounds. Front desk staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was ok but we waited 2 hours for our meal and it was quite expensive. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a good variety of good quality food but again, it was really busy and we had to eat in the bar. Pool facilities are good but limited to 1 hour slots."

"What a great hotel! I booked because of its proximity to Donington Park race circuit and didn't really look at the details. The location is remarkable. Picturesque, next to a river, at the end of a pretty country lane. The room was large, well appointed and clean. It was a hot day but a fan was provided in the room. The pillows are particularly good, as is the shower. Staff were welcoming and food and drink was tasty and reasonably priced. The place has character, free parking too. "

"This was our second stay at the property. We returned not only for the beautiful location & accommodation, but we also enjoyed our dining experience very much. The included breakfast was far above average in terms of selection, taste, and service, and the dinner options were superb. Parking is convenient and included. There is a lift if you need it, and they also have improved their Wifi since our last visit last year. A loud event took place at the hotel our last night but we received...

"Room was spacious and looked like in the photos. They do have a big problem with damp but this only really affected the asthetics and didnt affect our stay. The room looks freshly decorated. "
