"Despite unusually cold weather, the reception at Jekyll Ocean Club was warm and welcoming. We found plenty to do on the island and nearby. We had amazing meals here and in other island restaurants. Had a massage, loved the hot tub and everyone enjoyed horseback riding on the beach. Love this hotel. Our second time there and will be back for sure. "

"The room was very nice. The sink outside the bedroom needs new washers on the cold AND hot controls because both poured water if they were turned on. We just used the sink closest to the shower. TVs were nice, with Comcast just added in all rooms at the facility. View of the ocean was GREAT! I would recommend this to others. "

"I now know why it’s named The Beach 5 Villas. It’s just steps away from Number 5 beach access. It was so easy for us to take a quick walk to the huge, clean, quiet beach. The studio is snug but felt brand new and I’ve never rented a cleaner place! Any question I had was quickly given a reply. Such an easy and enjoyable stay. "

"We were disappointed in how dirty the home was. Dirty washcloths even on the bathroom floor when we checked in. My bedroom door knobs fell off the first night, microwave didn't work and other small issues. The owner tried to help, but we didn't want to stay at home for repairs. We cleaned and tried to ignore the other problems."

And here it is. The image setting I was hoping for. These beautiful totally wild horses in view of the ocean. I am so glad to have seen this. They never got any closer to the water than this. These two kindly allowed me to take a few photos of them on the dune above the beach while they grazed on small plants. Cumberland is a totally wild and beautiful place. You can hike the island for days and not see a single horse. Other times you can see a dozen or so. Patience was key and luck. If we didn't decide to hike back along the road instead of the beach we wouldn't have seen this. If we had stopped for lunch we wouldn't have seen them walking down the road. I can't wait till I go back and hope to see a few playing in the surf.
