And once every now and then you come across a complete gem. The Marine Hotel is one of those. The place itself is absolutely lovely, situated nicely on the beachfront in Hartlepool, its old school but full of character. "The first impressions of the room were good but there was some peeling wallpaper on the ceiling above the bed which detracted from the overall finish. The room was very warm with no individual heating control despite the radiator being turned off so we didn’t sleep as well as expected. Otherwise convenient city based franchised pub/hotel."

"Had an overnight for a concert.Staff were very friendly. Room was massive with a bay window ( looking onto road).Recently refurbed toilet was beautiful. Had burgers to eat in bar and they done the trick."

"The Spa Hotel sits just above the gorgeous coastline with an easy path down to the seaside. It is a slightly steep hill up to the town center, but that's easily walkable. The restaurant was excellent and everyone so kind and friendly. I saw the most spectacular sunrise and sunset at the property. You can't help but fall in love with the Hotel and it's natural beauty in the seaside surroundings."

"Looked for a cheap overnight hotel in Middlesbrough, and found Longlands. Rooms were simple, shared toilets and showers as advertised, but clean and tidy. There was a problem with the boiler, affecting the central heating, but the receptionist provided a portable electric heater when it couldn't be sorted. Showers were electric so worked, and were nicely fitted out. I added the breakfast, which was really good value. "

"Lovely charming hotel in a great location. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast and overall service was fantastic as it always is at the Inn Collection Group of hotels ( this was our 8th stay in one of their hotels). The only negative at this hotel was the windows in our bedroom and bathroom were very draughty (it’s an old building) and more noticeable as it was very windy outside. The windows could do with some secondary glazing/insulation."

"Reasonably priced, clean, staff very polite, helpful and welcoming. Bed was comfy and the room was clean and warm. Breakfast was all fresh and the food was great. Ideally placed with a short walk down to the harbour or up to the the nearest bus stop to travel further afield if so desired. Would recommend to anyone visiting Staithes and looking to explore further afield."
