That said, my room was as per the photos, airy, clean and comfortable. The manager was helpful and the breakfast in the room was perfectly fine. It was all ok for me for a few nights on a work trip, but not what I would call a leisure hotel. "

"This is by far the cleanest place we have ever stayed in, this guest house is immaculate. The host are absolutely brilliant and the service they offer is fantastic. Breakfast is on a different level, everything you could possibly want and the young lad serving us was so smartly dressed and so very polite. "Loved everything about Brig O Doon House Hotel. It’s a charming hotel in a beautiful setting with several historic attractions all within a few minutes walk. Staff are so friendly and attentive and our executive room was immaculate and spacious with excellent facilities. Would definitely recommend a stay here. "

"The hotel did not inform us that it was under complete reconstruction and offered us an alternative that was out of the local area we expected and gave us less tha than 24 hour notice when everything in the area was booked up due to a major sporting event. Very shadey way to operate. "

"Two nights with little sleep - the main culprits being the polyester sheets on the bed and the constant clicking from the radiator. Not a restful break at all. It has a pleasant enough setting, albeit up a rutted farm track, and would probably be more fun in summer, but is not really suited for dark and cold winter nights."

"The tea towel for drying dishes was absolutely stinking of dampness, obviously wasn't clean! There was no kitchen roll so had to use one of the bath towels - it also had dirty marks on. The livingroom/sitting area was stinking of dogs. The plug-in air freshener was empty. Couldn't figure out how to use the grill."

After several attempts to contact in order to get into the property, we ended up booking at another place. This was very, very hard, since the OPEN was going on and there were NO vacancies. Eventually, after making a lot of phone calls we were able to book another place to stay. "
