"The hotel is affordable and very close to the city centre. Room had a hairdryer built in, very comfy bed sheet plenty of choices for seating in the room. TV was a lil small for viewing from the bed and the toilet paper wasn't the greatest, also wish there was an alternative option to a bar of soap? But these are small complaints, this is a fantastic hotel"

"We stayed one night so I could be at the hospital for an op at 7.00am. When checking in Alison on reception was really kind, telling my husband he could go back to the hotel and use their facilities even after check out. She even loaned us her own usb plug overnight so we could charge our devices. We have known the hotel for years, my husband went to King Edward’s school across the road, and I used to stay on business in the 1980’s and 90’s. We also held my husband’s 60th birthday party there...

"Very comfortable, clean hotel, well kept considering age. Great history. Room was comfortable, clean, water hot and good pressure. Perfect location for theatre, cinema, restaurants and shopping. Only disappointment I went down to breakfast early as suggested by hotel to avoid the rush but breakfast items were had been there a while. If this happens to you ask for freshly cooked I was told after - a bit of a waste "

"I imagine this hotel was nice… 20 years ago when the photos advertising it were taken. Such a shame because it’s a nice building in a lovely area. I can’t speak for the original building itself, maybe those rooms are better kept, but we were placed in the outbuilding across the way and the rooms were incredibly tired and shoddy, with chipped paintwork and soiled carpet. The toilet was stained and there were no toiletries in the bathroom. On arrival, we had to use the telephone as instructed on...

"Gorgeous hotel! We stayed for one night, friendly staff and lovely room which was clean. Hotel bar and restaurant lovely and breakfast very good. Not too far from Bakewell, we had a walk in and called at Thornbridge brewery on the way. We would definitely stay again. "
