We had a room with both tatami and western beds (raised off the ground) which worked very well for the elders in our group that weren't used to sleeping on the ground. No shower/bath in the room as the expectation is to use the public baths (or private family baths which are first come first serve basis). "We had an amazing stay at Hana Beppu, the food and onsen was wonderful! My only critique would be the washroom didn't come with a toilet brush to clean it so have to use hand. Perhaps all rooms should come with one. But overall we had a pleasant time here! "

"Completely beautiful. Everything is perfect, the atmosphere, the delicacy, the lighting, the artwork, the music, the service. Rumi, Kenji and other members of staff are so so friendly. They made me feel like I was in a home away from home. Whilst also having a completely unique experience. The private hot spring bath outdoors at the back of the hotel is out of this world. So dreamy. Beppu is an incredible space and city to be in and staying here just made it so much more special."

"Very big room, got dining table, sofa, our biggest room in Japan. But no reception, it’s a self check in. No luggage storage before check in. Close to station which is very nice. Our room got washing machine, and bathroom got air drying system, so clothes will dry quickly."
