"We had a good time at DCanal. The property is nicely decorated, is very clean and has a lovely pool and garden. To say the staff were great would be an understatement. They were very friendly and always checking if we needed anything. The buffet breakfast was lovely and freshly prepared every morning. My only critique of this property is it is a 15min walk to the town & beach but they do provide a free tuk tuk service from 10am to 7 pm. The beach bar pictures shown here are not on this...

"Really nice and clean room but everything else where terrible, dirty and very old. The staff was laying in the few chairs and there were no place else to sit, not even in the small garden. We wantet a quiet vaccation but it was noicy from the mainstreet in front. We decided to leave again after 2 nights even we already paid for more."

"The atmosphere is quiet, and the hotel is located right in front of Galle Old Street. The decor is nice and chic, but the linens and carpets are a bit worn. Breakfast is good."

"We stayed in the ocean view room. The room was nice and the view was amazing. The staff was good. There is no daily house keeping, which was fine for us, they did ask of we needed any new towels or toilet paper. The location was great and overall it was a good experience. The food wasn’t the best. Also the music was super loud every night. We were able to sleep through it since we were exhausted, but it is something to be aware of. "Sweet place to stay…right on the beach! Turtles were there…surrounded by tourists! The staff were friendly and kind. Obs not luxury but for a cheap time on the beach very good! Outstanding curry at The Bistro "

"Nice small hotel close to the beach, town and bars etc. Nice pool and bar area and food is good (we had to pay extra for breakfast). Ideal for a short break, the hotel arranged turtle swimming for us and can organise many other trips, also Spa on site. We had travelled from Tissa and first impressions here was that Marissa was very touristy and the route to the “secret beach” is a rubbish strewn dirt track, however once we settled in, we enjoyed the area."

"Very dated furniture/ decor and a little basic , no hot water insects in the bathroom , However all is forgiven when you step onto the balcony the view was to die for could have sat on that balcony everyday for the rest of my life , truly phenomenal "

"There are 3 hotels in the Somerset group. This is away from the beach. Its up a very steep narrow concrete road. Its dark in the night and only 1 vehicle can go up or down this dark narrow road. The hotel staff are really nice. The rooms are a bit dated. The breakfast buffet was a joke as compared to hotels we have stayed in colombo. There was no buffet. Just a plate of fruit and eggs if you asked. Better stay is closer to the beach and somerset has a hotel right on tne beach"
