I do t believe in the area you will find any better. This is top of the line for the area although may night be top of the line for American standards. "We were so happy with the hotel and lived our room with the amazing view of the lake and balcony. The staff were all so friendly and the breakfast was amazing. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We walked to and from the train station and caught the ferry just opposite the hotel to Sirmione. Loved the area loads to eat and drink or just wander up to the castle. Book this place with a view you will be very happy"

"Very nice hotel in a beautiful central location close to the ferry port and with a view of the lake. It is a ten minute walk from the train station. The rooms were comfortable with all the expected facilities. Breakfast had a wide range of continental choices as well as scrambled eggs and bacon. The coffee was excellent. There are a wide range of bars, restaurants and shops close by. If I were visiting Desenzano in the future I would have no hesitation in staying at Hotel Tripoli. "

"Sleepy small town that was interesting. Only two complaints...bed was very hard and the site stated it was 6 miles from Val Trompe .that may be as the crow flies but it is an hour drive. Food at restaurant was excellent. We liked the family atmosphere and the friendly dog"
