"This historic hotel was beautiful. Close to things to do in Monterey. On Tuesday they have a wonderful farmers market from 4pm to 8pm right in front of the hotel. "

"Was threatened with a $500 dollar charge for smoking in the room upon arrival - not unnusual but the wording was a little too accusatory. They take the cleanliness of the rooms seriously which is nice as a guest but it's uncomfortable being put under the spotlight like that at check-in. The room was on the small side and could only access one side of the double bed due to it being pushed against a wall, but other than that the stay was nice. "

"The staff is very welcoming. The buildings need some repairs but the bed was comfortable enough and the room was large. There is a fridge in the room. A microwave would be great. Very close to everything. We walked to the plaza and beach everyday. "
