"The LBV hotel is an absolutely beautiful property. However, it is a VERY steep climb up to it from Pinhao. Unless you have a car (which is challenging to drive in this area) or want to pay for a taxi to get to a restaurant it is not convenient. I averaged 10 miles a day travelling in Europe and this climb was A LOT. I think this is the norm for the area. Hotel was a GREAT bargain but challenging to get to."

The property is a manor house at the edge of Provesendes run by the 18th generation of the household. Our bags were taken to our room and we had a welcome drink on the terrace overlooking the spectacular Douro Valley. We joined other guests for a family style meal and enjoyed getting to know people from many different countries.
