"Hotel Sol is an excellent choice to stay when visiting the Panajachel area. Unlike many other places in the area, the building is secure, very clean, the rooms are big, the shower (hot and cold water) actually works, and the staff are attentive and helpful. Although the hotel is in the periphery of Panachel, for less than $1 (5 quetzales) you can hop into a tuck-tuck and go anywhere in Panajachel. I have stayed in several places in the area and Hotel Sol is my number one choice."

"This was such a delightful surprise after 2 weeks of travel. I'd stayed at other hospedajes closer to the lake, but wanted something a bit more quite, and this was definitely it! The rooms ate simple and beautiful. The shower was onenof the nicest I've seen, and it's the perfect budgetary point. The bed was also comfy and I had a great time talking with the staff. I will definitely be back!"

It was SO nice for each couple to have their own space in each villa and then to also be able to meet together for meals and going down to the lake or into town. Scott's staff is SO kind and helpful and they assisted with our bags and getting settled in. The views are amazing and it was so quiet and peaceful. Each house is well equipped with everything you could need and is super comfortable (including the mattress!). The kitchen even had coffee...
