"Fabulous experience staying in the jungle. Accommodation basic but lying in bed listening to howler monkeys / frogs can't be beaten. Staff extremely helpful and the breakfast banana pancakes when we arrived via water taxi were amazing. Lots of places to sit out in the breeze looking at the river boats and bird watch "

"The rain was particularly heavy when we checked in and the room we booked had a small leak, so we had a downstairs river view for the first night. This first room, though large with AC, just felt dark (the windows were looking onto the lower terrace so you felt you had to shut the curtains). The shower also would not get warm. However, for the second night we were moved into an upstairs river view room, and what a difference! It was so light and airy feeling - again with AC and great space....

"The Cabinas is close to the beach with shower at entrance so you can wash feet or body before getting to your room. The staff are kind, even if difficult to communicate at times as some don't speak English, but they do their best. The hammocks are a pleasure in the afternoon. There is a common area with tables that you can have your meals which is very useful. The room was clean, beds very comfortable, it was fee hot days when we were there and ceiling fan and separate fans were helpful. The...

"Gerardo and Ana Rita were class act hosts. The lodge is basic, but clean and cozy. We loved San Francisco , which is the little island that is a 5 minute ferry ride to Tortuguero. If a authentic community off the beaten path is what you want to experience, this is the place for you.
