Restes de l'ancien pont de Meung-sur-Loire. Mercredi 15 juin 1429. "le Duc Jean II d'Alençon, comme lieutenant général de l'armée du Roi, accompagné de la Pucelle, de messire Louis de Bourbon, comte de Vendôme, d'autres seigneurs, capitaines et gens en armes en grand nombre tant à pied qu'à cheval, partirent d'Orléans avec une importante quantité de vivres, de charrue et d'artillerie, le mercredi 15 du mois de juin, pour aller mettre le siège devant Beaugency, mais en voyant le pont de Meung-sur-Loire, combien les anglais l'avaient fortifiés et fortement défendu par des vaillant combattants, qui tentaient de bien le défendre. Malgré cette défense, le pont fut pris dans l'assaut, sans guère retarder l'armée."
