Welcome to our cottage Akkerland located in the second smallest village in Belgium: Zandvoorde near Zonnebeke. The home of Jacques Brel's grandparents. Undoubtedly this is where Jacques found his inspiration to write his song Vlaanderen Vlakke Land (Flanders Flat Land). The flat land Brel refers to in the song is West Flanders, the region in Belgium where his family originally came from. It is a region with many open fields and few trees, although Le Plat Pays is situated on a sandy 'voorde' (or hill). And where the village race is an annual highlight. It is an enchanting region where you can completely relax. A gas heater makes it cozy in the winter. The infrared sauna provides relaxation for your muscles. At the back you can enjoy the flat landscape and the sun on the south-facing terrace. The landscaped garden provides sufficient privacy and is completely closed off from the front/street.
You can park for free on the driveway (max 3 cars).
There is also plenty of extra parking space along the street.

There is a bus stop 300 metres from the house. Connection to Ypres and Komen.

There is a south-facing terrace adjoining the house and a terrace a little further from the house where you can enjoy your breakfast in the morning in the sun.
In the summer we provide a sofa with cushions, tables & chairs and BBQ.
