About the Area

Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.
Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year round riparian meadow wildlife viewing.
Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley.
Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (now called Big Trees Lodge). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station.
The Redwoods In Yosemite has over 110 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Perfect Mountain Getaway
Beautiful Yosemite cabin close to Mariposa Grove and all the sites at Yosemite Valley. The cabin was well-equipped and comfortable, with everything needed in a home-away-from-home.

Awesome place, awesome location
We loved the house and everything about it. It was great being inside the park and not waiting in line to get in. We loved being so close to the river and the Chilnualna Falls trailhead is very close to the house and a great trail. Overall, a really great place enjoyed by everyone in our party.

Clean, homey, comfortable & easy to access. Had everything we needed. Impressed with being able to wash clothes free & the laundry lady was sooooo helpful to us. Housekeeping & staff in office were excellent.

Great Cabin
This cabin could easily be listed as 4 bedroom. The loft with the door closed feels like a huge bedroom with it's own private bath. Our group of 7 adults was very comfortable. There was plenty of space inside. Although Redwoods Inn only guarantees 1 parking space per bedroom, their helpful staff checked & confirmed there was enough space for 4 cars, which worked out perfectly for us. The cabin was well stocked with most cooking appliances, dishes & several dining areas so we could cook & enjoy our meals together. Plenty of good hiking trails you can get to on site & a convenience store in walking distance. We would definitely come back in the future, but not on Memorial Day weekend. There's too much traffic in the park.

Great home inside one of the great National Parks
We are traveling with our adult kids and we all felt comfortable at this great home inside Yosemite. We loved the large deck that was bathed in sunlight most of the day. We shopped on our way to the park at Von’s in Oakhurst and ate breakfast and dinner on the deck all 4 days. It was not only a great spot to enjoy our meals but also a way to save hundreds of $$$ and the frustration of fighting for a table at the few local restaurants. The kitchen was well equipped and the gas grill worked great. The pool table in the home also led to some fun family moments. Plenty of space for anyone to go off for some private time if wanted. The only downside is that the beds were quite firmer than what we were used to. Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point are both must sees and about an hour away. We spent a day exploring and hiking around Wawona which was much less crowded. The Mariposa Big Tree Grove is only a 20 minute drive. We will have memories for a lifetime of our stay there!

Great house, some issues with management company
House was great. Attic with 2nd bathroom could be listed as a 4th bedroom. Kitchen was small but the rest of the house was quite spacious. Bathrooms were very clean. Our issues came with some decisions made by the management company. We arrived after office hours and picked up our keys easily from a box. It was frustrating to find a note stating we had to stop by the office during opening hours (8a-5p) to sign a contract. That was when we were supposed to be enjoying the park!!! The little note at the bottom stating we would forfeit our deposit if we did not do so was absolutely ridiculous. It was for this reason alone we would recommend against renting from "Redwoods in Yosemite" to friends and family. In addition, items that were mentioned as being available at the cabin, specifically dishwasher detergent and a coffee grinder, were not there. We ended up having to hand wash all of our dishes. Luckily we were smart enough to bring our own grinder.

Beautiful cabin
I love Yosemite. I've stayed at the Redwoods in Yosemite many times. Cabin #37 was perfect for our family. All the wood was impressive and the whole cabin was squeaky clean. I would recommend this cabin highly. The people in the office were exceptionally gracious and helpful. We will definitely be back!
