NO PARK RESERVATIONS NEEDED! INSIDE YOSEMITE PK FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT INSPIRED HOME

No Park reservations needed!! Located inside Yosemite National Park, includes entrance reservation into the Park, and is 2 short blocks walking distance from the Merced River, The Summit House is a multi-story mountain home with central air conditioning and heat, and constructed with western red cedar inside and out. Surrounded by 3 secluded decks, our home offers 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, a spacious 2 story living room with trestle beams, separate dining room, large kitchen, loft den and game room with a bumper pool table. The upstairs bedrooms each have a king size bed, while the lower bedrooms each have 2 twin beds. In addition, both the loft and game room have queen size sleeper sofa beds. The house sleeps up to 13 people. There are 2 massive river rock fireplaces, a laundry room with washer and dryer, Dish TV, and wifi. All kitchen utensils, dishes, towels, and sheets are provided. Both a propane and charcoal barbecue are also provided for the large rear deck which is situated next to the forest where you can enjoy deer, raccoons, squirrels and birds as they parade by our home.
The Summit House is located in the charming town of Wawona, 6 miles inside Yosemite National Park. The Big Trees Hotel (formally the Wawona Hotel) is just five minutes away. Here you can play golf and tennis, ride in a carriage and ride horses in the nearby stable. Badger Pass Ski Lodge and Glacier Point are 35 and 50 minutes away. Yosemite Valley, where the Yosemite, Bridalveil and Vernal/Nevada Falls and El Capitan is 35 minutes from the house. The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is only 15 minutes away. We are a short walk from the Merced River where you can fish and swim in the summer, as well as sunbathe on the glistening flat rocks in the rushing river. You can also enjoy a hike to Chilnualna Falls and the swinging bridge or stroll the Meadow Loop Trail. There is fine dining at the historic Big Trees Hotel, as well as horseback riding, a 9 hole golf course, Ranger walks and talks and a fascinating old Pioneer Center.
In the winter you can enjoy downhill skiing, cross country skiing, sledding and snowshoeing at nearby Badger Pass as well as ice skating under Half Dome in the Valley.
In Yosemite Valley there are year round activities including numerous hikes, waterfall gazing, rafting, biking, museums, or just enjoying the beautiful vistas from the awe inspiring Majestic (formally the Ahwanee) Hotel. Yosemite is beautiful in all seasons and each season has its own special pleasures!

Wonderful home for a large group or family!
We stayed in this special home in Yosemite with our family of 7 adults and 2 children. We had plenty of room for a 5 day stay. The kitchen was very well equipped. There were extra towels, pillows and blankets if wanted or needed. It was a bonus to park inside the garage. The AC, not readily available at all lodging in the park, was very much needed with the high temperatures during our stay in July. It is a drive, beautiful one at that, to get to the valley loop but we mapped out our daily excursions with various stops each day to break up the drive for the younger members of the family. If you are going to Yosemite please stay inside the park gates as this house is located. The time in line waiting to come through the gates would have been unfathomable during the height of the summer season. The communications with Dan and Chris were exceptional and much appreciated.

Family Vacation at Summit House
Our party included two grandparents and two families of 2 spouses and 2 teenagers for a total of 10. We enjoyed our stay at Summit House. Because we had a reservation and arrived relatively late in the day, we had no problem getting into the Yosemite National Park. We spent one day in Yosemite Valley, one day in Mariposa Grove and took a day trip to Glacier Point. An unexpected bonus was swimming in the South Fork of the Merced River at two spots relatively near Summit House. The house was spacious and interesting from an architectural standpoint. The kids (young and old) enjoyed games of bumper pool!

Great house for a group in Yosemite-Wawona
We had a great stay at the Summit House. Group of 12 adults and teens. House was well appointed, comfortable and location was amazing. Pine Tree market 1/4 mile away was convenient for some groceries and there is a fun swimming hole with a water down only 1/2 mile away. Highly recommend and we would stay again.

Beautiful!
Our group of 8 adults totally enjoyed this house! We were there for 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend. The park was crowded so it was a big comfort to be inside the gates and not needing a reservation. There are 4 very comfortable bedrooms, a great kitchen, and several wonderful gathering areas (inside and outside). The location is somewhat remote so do yourself a favor and arrive during daylight!

Generous and well equipped home inside of YNP
We stayed this home for eight nights in November 2023. It has the advantage of being located inside of the parks south entrance gate. It is close to Mariposa Grove and a couple of trails in the Wanona area. There is a small market in the neighborhood which is quite handy. It is approximately 40 minute driving from this house into the Yosemite Valley. The house is large and well-equipped for all indoor activities, including a downstairs game area with bumper pool. The kitchen is very well equipped, although the pots and pans are worn out. Two bedrooms are on the main floor with the kitchen and living room and two more bedrooms are down below on the ground floor. Being able to park in the garage is a plus. There were some minor issues with heating as the batteries in the thermostats were depleted, but we were able to self correct these. The host was responsive to all inquiries. Be advised that the entire house is carpeted, and those are sensitive to dust may be affected by this.

Wonderful Wawona Dwelling
We really enjoyed our stay at the Summit House. We enjoyed that it was inside the park gates, which helped expedite getting around inside the park during our visit. The house accommodated our group well, and we enjoyed being able to cook and eat at the house and have a special gathering as we were at Yosemite for a memorial for a loved one. This house was in good shape and had everything we needed. I would recommend this to other folks considering a stay inside Yosemite Park.

Amazing Family Home in Yosemite
Our family has stayed at the Summit House many times, and we absolutely love it. The multiple levels are perfect for a large family or two families to stay together but have enough space. One consideration- the driveway leading up to the property is steep and there are many stairs, so older family members may have a harder time. The kitchen has everything needed (including a new crock pot) and two large fridge/freezers. The only thing I’d change are the mattresses- they are very firm and we are used to a softer mattress. We loved our stay at the Summit House and hope to come back soon!

Yosemite trip vacation
We vacationed in this home late June-early july with three parents and 7 kids aged 19-3. The house was wonderful. Being inside the park boundaries is great! The neighborhood the home is in has a small Market just down the street with many items and a park ranger was at this market most evenings doing fun programs. Would definitely rent this house again!

Property is great and in a great location inside the park.
Great property in a great location. The house needs some maintenance as the sliding door leading on to the deck was off the track and the door latch was broken. Also there were nail heads protruding from the deck. These are minor issues and were managable for our stay but should be addressed. Overall a great visit.
