Explorers Retreat

Explorers Retreat 3 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bathrooms, Sleeps up to 8

Explorers Retreat is one half of a duplex and is located inside Yosemite National Park in a small private development called Yosemite West. The home is centrally located to many of the Park's major attractions: Yosemite Valley is 20 minutes away - Glacier Point is 25-30 minutes - The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia Trees is 35 minutes and Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Resort is located 8 miles away. Great amenities include easy, flat parking for up to 3 cars (a rare find which makes travel so much easier in every season), Air Conditioning, plus free satellite internet (not fast enough for reliable video streaming and video calling).

On the 1st floor, you’ll enter to a large open area with two benches with storage — the perfect place to sit after a day out exploring to rest and remove your shoes and boots. You’ll also find a secondary living area complete with gas fireplace, sectional sofa, and satellite TV. A guest bedroom with a queen bed and a hallway bathroom with tub/shower combination are nearby. The 2nd guest bedroom on the 1st floor has a twin over full bunk bed with a twin trundle bed. Laundry facilities are also on the 1st floor.

On the second story, you’ll find the kitchen, dining/living room area with wood floors and knotty pine ceilings. The kitchen has granite counter tops, knotty alder cabinets, gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave oven. Enjoy the view from the large 2nd floor balcony complete with a propane grill and dining table that seats six. The main living room (2nd floor) has a leather sectional, gas fireplace and flat screen HDTV/Blueray and satellite television. The dining area table seats eight plus there are 3 bar stools at the island counter. Also on the 2nd floor is a third bedroom with a queen bed. There is a full bathroom in the hallway upstairs.
Explorers Retreat is one of the best locations in the park with all of the features you need to make your Yosemite vacation a wonderful experience!

To rent both sides of the duplex, look for the listing for Climbers Retreat (please note: these duplexes do not connect inside)

Perfect stay in Yosemite Natl Park outside valley
Comfortable, clean stay for our nights after exploring the park. We had everything we needed. Checkout is quick - trash and dishwasher only. No linen pickup etc. Great spot! Would stay again.

Peace and quiet
Great home at the end of the neighborhood, which made it very quiet and peaceful. The listing is accurate, and the house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Earlier reviews mentioned that shampoo, soap, etc. aren't provided. They do provide hand soap, dish soap, and tablets for the dishwasher. The closest small store is about a 35-minute drive, and a major grocery store is about an hour away, so plan ahead. Previous reviews also mentioned that the internet is spotty, which was true for us as well due to some snowy weather that came through during our stay. But once that passed, it was running again. There is no cell signal at the house and the surrounding area, so plan ahead and download Google Maps or something similar. The property manager was helpful with our questions. Overall, this was a great home for our family stay and we enjoyed our time.

Yosemite Retreat
Overall and great property but neither bathroom has shampoo so bring your own. The knives in the kitchen are nearly unusable due to how dull they are and there’s no sharpener provided. We ended up using our own pocket knife to prep dinner. Other than that, we really enjoyed our weekend.

Good base of operations to explore Yosemite
We enjoyed our stay. The property met our expectations. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of room to spread out. With temperatures over 100 we were happy the air conditioning was on when we arrived.

Inside the park home run
The property is inside Yosemite National Park but far enough from the tourist areas that it is quiet at night.l It is well-equipped and well-maintained.

No Power, No Refund
Could be a great place if they had a back up generator for when the power goes out = no light in the bathrooms at all, no tv of course, NO HOT WATER, no cooking...ANd they would not refund any part of the payment. And this happens often, since there are other reviews mentioning the power outage in the comments.

Amazing location and well-stocked house!
You can't get a better location within the valley. Clean, well equipped house that was perfect after long days on the trails. Very quiet and easily accessible. The coffee table was missing in the upstairs living room which was odd, but not a deal breaker (but getting one would be a good idea!).

Spacious and clean!
This 3 bedroom home worked well for our family in our 3 days at Yosemite. It took us 30 minutes to drive from the house to the valley (around 8 am in early June with little traffic) and it was nice to get out of the crowd in the valley at the end of the day. Since dinner options in the park are very limited, we stopped at a grocery store before we got to the park and bought groceries for breakfast and dinner. The home is very well stocked, but there are no condiments or ingredients other than Folgers coffee, sugar packs, salt and pepper, so be prepared to bring everything you need to cook. Very clean and the management does a good job providing information about the home and the park.

Great Yosemite holiday
Lovely property, perfect for us as 2 families travelling together. It had everything we needed and plenty of space for the kids to run amok downstairs. Upstairs is quite hot with no a/c but the fans provided helped.
