Victorian Cottage in Pocklington near York with log burner and wi-fi

Milliner's Cottage, in the centre of the historic market town of Pocklington, is a short stroll from shops, restaurants, pubs, theatre, cinema, sports centre and Burnby Hall gardens. It is the perfect base for visiting the nearby city of York or for walking or cycling in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds.

Central heating and a wood burning stove make the cottage cosy and comfortable all year round. Milliner's Cottage has been renovated to a high standard sympathetic to its Victorian origins. There are original fireplaces, sliding sash windows and items of antique furniture, but the recliner sofas and Victorian style beds are new, with crisp cotton bedding and pocket sprung mattresses for a perfect night's sleep. There is also high speed broadband, and the TV has Netflix, iPlayer, All4 and ITVHub, so you needn't miss your favourite shows while you are on holiday!

Milliner's Cottage has a private garden with decked seating area and brick built store - suitable for bikes. There is free on-street parking in Union Street.

This lovingly restored 1840’s terraced cottage has all one needs for a short or long stay in a beautiful part of England near York and the Yorkshire Wolds. Upstairs are two bedrooms (one double with a dressing table and large walk-in wardrobe, one with two single beds and a rail for hanging clothes) and large warm bathroom. Downstairs is a through room. The sitting area has two leather sofas - one a recliner; a flat screen TV with freeview TV and catch-up channels; a wood-burning stove with plenty of wood (although the central hating is excellent); and plenty of information about the area. The kitchen has a large table (with some of the best guidance about the cottage and location I have ever read), a good range of crockery, cooking pots and utensils, a utility area under the stairs, cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher and plenty of worktops. A dresser contains books to read and games to play. Outside is a yard which can be lit at night, and a small terrace with a table and four chairs for al fresco dining. Everything is of good quality and well maintained. And so welcoming. We found fresh flowers, soap and bath and shower products, tea and coffee and a welcome pack of teacakes, milk and eggs. Parking is on the local streets and free. The cottage is 5 minutes walk from Pocklington town centre with plenty of pubs, restaurants and largely independent shops. The owners live nearby and communications were excellent.
