Unique, romantic apartment for two in York city centre artist's house.

'Atelier 22 York' is a unique, elegant and characterful lower ground self-contained apartment in our recently restored period town-house.
Ideally located in a quiet residential street 5 minutes walk from York Minster and the hustle and bustle of the city centre with its museums, fine restaurant dining and shopping. 8 minutes walk from York station.
With an eye for the unusual and attention to detail Royal College of Art graduates David and Anita have created the perfect, dreamy get-away.
Recently selected by Alistair Sawday's 'Special Places to Stay' (the first in York), this spacious apartment has been lovingly restored and styled by its artist owners and features their original artworks (paintings/lights). The apartment has solid oak flooring, antique Persian rugs and a combination of period French and contemporary designer furniture which contributes to the apartment's special character. A stunning set of French 18th century chateau doors divide the living and bedrooms and provide the 'wow factor' of this charming find.
A welcome basket of Prosecco or red or white wine, artisan made bread, preserves, muesli, organic milk, eggs, fruit juice, Betty's/Yorkshire tea and ground coffee are to be found upon arrival.

*FREE WI-FI* and *FREE OFF-STREET PARKING*.
Help with luggage.

The living room with its linen covered antique chesterfield sofa, large format art books, 42" Smart HD TV with Freeview, DVD player, Bose Bluetooth sound system is perfect for a cosy night in.
Wet-room style bathroom with walk-in shower, heated towel rail, underfloor heating and plenty of white fluffy towels (organic eco shower gel and shampoo etc.)
The kitchen - reclaimed slate work-tops, Victorian tiled floor. Induction hob, oven, fridge, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster etc. Washer-dryer, steam iron and ironing board.

Guest Access

Ring front door bell marked 'Evagora-Campbell' and David and Anita will give you a key and show you around the apartment.

Interaction with Guests

The apartment is within our family house but completely private and with its own entrance. (There are 13 steps down to the apartment so may not be suitable for some). Your hosts are at hand for advice on local attractions, restaurants and places to visit for day trips.

Excellent accomodation, great location and a fantastic host!
Really lovely apartment just outside the city walls. Spotlessly clean, really comfortable and with everything you need for a great stay. Little extras including, sourdough bread, butter, preserves, milk, coffee, tea, orange juice, cereals, chocolate , wine and a treat from Betty's all made it feel really special and that you are very welcome. Communication before arrival was great, as was check in when we were helped with our bags down the steps and shown around. Anita (our host) was on holiday at the time but checked in with us by email during and after our stay and was lovely. Apartment is very stylish and very tastefully decorated with parking at the rear. A few minutes walk from the city, river and train station which is a perfect location. Overall a really special place to stay and we can't wait to go back.

Amazing!
It was perfect - great size, close to the main streets and a beautiful park, and exactly as pictured and described. The best part though, is the little touches and details of the studio. The care and consideration taken where everything you could possibly need is next level amazing.

5 * STAY IN YORK
Fabulous quirky apartment very close to the Museum Gardens and a short beautiful walk into the centre of town. I usually judge hotels/apartments by the comfort of the bed, pillows, bedding and bathroom and I am pleased to say these were all 5*. Anita excelled all expectations providing us with very good quality food and drink in the fridge which meant we didnt have to go shopping on arrival. If we visit York in the forseable future we will most certainly book Atelier Apartment. Highly recommended. Many thanks.

Perfect location for all that you would want to see in York
First visit to York and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay.Anita and David were the perfect hosts very welcoming and we needed for nothing. On arrival we were shown around the appartment which included all that you would want for a comfortable stay including a well stocked kitchen with bread milk preservatives butter milk coffee tea and wine-if you needed anything else there is a Sainsbury’s local 5 mins away. The appartment is in a quiet residential area and less than half a mile from the centre of York and all the attractions and we had access to the owners car parking space at the rear of the property which was great.Overall we had a fantastic stay in York and would definitely use this appartment again when we next visit

Perfectly appointed
Great spot in York. Very well located. The apartment is an extension of the owners' home and taste, and I felt honoured to be a guest there. The rental includes breakfast provisions which were much appreciated. Thank you for a memorable and truly lovely time! If ever back in York, I would stay nowhere else.

Great location, lovely style and comfort, parking a bonus
We really enjoyed our visit to York and felt very welcome here. The kitchen was well stocked for breakfasts and you are so close to the city centre lunches and dinners are never far away. The apartment is very well appointed and perfectly comfortable. We hope to return!

Wonderful Stay
Our first visit to York. We were excited about staying at Atelier and were not disappointed. The apartment is ideally situated to enable you to explore York. We did not have a car and so it was an ideal base for walking and sightseeing. Anita provided very informative information prior to our stay and talked us through this when we arrived. The wine , bread, olives, eggs etc on arrival were wonderful and great to see local/free range produce. The apartment is beautiful and it was so interesting to read about the history and provenance of the apartment and fixtures and fittings. We would definitely recommend this apartment and definitely return if we were visiting York. My only regret - not asking about how to buy the art work! Thank you both for a memorable weekend.

Truly unique and special!
Atelier 22 exceeded ALL our expectations. While the pictures on the website are excellent the actual experience of staying at Atelier 22 is more than you can imagine. Just on the edge of the beautiful busy centre of York you are transported into a elegant, charming french style apartment. The furniture, light fittings, art work show the hand of an gifted interior design owner. This spotlessly clean lovingly restored apartment is truly unique and special, it felt like a privilege and absolute treat to stay in. We will return. We didn't meet the owners however a big thank you to the delightful friendly Sally for looking after us.

Amazing weekend break in a beautiful apartment
What an amazing place to stay!.....was greated by Anita & David who were lovely...they showed us our accommodation which was just immaculate, the living room/kitchen area was fantastic and the artisan bread and the welcome basket was a great touch. The bedroom and the bed was unbelievable and so comfortable. The wet room and underfloor heating was great...we would highly recommend to stay here as it's very local to York town center (a 5min walk away)....it was so good we have booked again for June!

Perfect apartment In great location, couldn't fault it, definitely return and recommend, lovely.
First timers to York but we/I made the perfect choice with this basement apartment. We stayed 2 nights, midweek, travelling up from the South coast of Hampshire, very easy to find. Parking is at the rear, which is an ample size, narrow access lane but our car (Freelander) squeezed through easily. Apartment is truly lovely, spacious, clean, beautiful furnished, high spec kitchen and bathroom. Everything your could possible need is there. Iron and board, hairdryer, coffee machine, shampoo/con, soap and a larder full of goodie basics. Plus a arrivals pack (Bread, Milk, Eggs, Prosecco) Bathroom is lovely with Wetroom shower, with gets nice and hot. Beautiful toiletries too. Bed was really comfy and high quailty linens. The centre of York is really close either turn right and right again and walk straight head (past Sainsbury's Local) through the city walls at Bootman Bar, arriving at the west end of York Minister. Or left and left again follow the straight, then across a road into the Museum gardens, go come out with the Tourist Office is to the right, across the road. We bought "York Pass' there. We had the perfect stay and would definitely return, without a second though. Thank you it was just what these parents of 3 tens needed.
