On the day of my arrival I received a call asking me to switch to a double queen from a king. When I said I’d paid for a king and obviously needed it the lady was less than appreciative.
Upon my arrival with my service dog (yes a real trained service dog and yes I’m disabled) I was greeted friendly and courteously and checked in. I also asked and made sure the room was ground level and close to handicapped parking and it was. Upon going to my room heading down the hall a member of staff froze in their steps where ch at the time I didn’t think twice about. Well once I was in the room I received a call from the desk stating he didn’t know I had a service dog, remember the dog was my side at check in, and that I needed to come to the desk for another room? I go to the desk and ask what was the issue and am told they had “other rooms” for dogs. Btw this is a non pet friendly hotel. I ask him what’s the difference from the room I’m in and he says it’s for animals as the are unhygienic (smell, shed and cause allergies) and they wouldn’t be able to use the room for several days to allow it to air out! I asked him don’t they clean after a guest stays and he says yes but dogs are different. I explain to him that this sounds like they’re discriminating against me and he says no but says I need to go to the 3rd floor room at the back of the building! Well eventually he relented because other customers were waiting to be helped!
