Absolutely fantastic ! Location is brilliant for exploring York The accommodation was excellent, exceptionally clean and welcoming, with plenty of room to feel comfortable after a busy sightseeing day in York The breakfast was delicious and plenty of it, and nothing was to much trouble for our host Darren Not only was there complimentary tea/coffee in the rooms but everyday there was a little treat left in the room in the form of a scrumptious homemade mince pie, a cookie and a piece of flapjack for each of us Thankyou Darren for welcoming us into your home, and making our visit to York memorable

A hidden gem.
From the moment you arrive everything is fantastic. Very welcoming and friendly. Our bedroom was large and very comfortable with everything you need including some home baking. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Pre order breakfast the evening before and it's freshly prepared and piping hot the next morning. Our first visit but hopefully not our last. Thank you very much.

Both my daughter and I are carers and so this was a precious few days stay at Alcuin Lodge. All the more important to us that the service, from booking through to departure, was faultless and it was 😁. Darren was very welcoming throughout and, for anyone concerned about Covid safety, the measures in place made us feel secure. The guesthouse has free permit parking close by and is conveniently located for getting into the centre of York. Our twin room was comfortable, quiet and spotless. Tea, coffee and home baking were provided on arrival and replenished on our second day. At present breakfast is ordered via an email link and has to be completed before 7pm on the evening before. This is a Covid measure and works very well. Breakfast was served between 8-8.45am and was freshly cooked and delicious. We were truly made to feel welcome and loved our chats with Darren at breakfast and at other times during our stay too. If we can we will certainly visit again and we are happy to highly recommend 😁

A beautiful Victorian house renovated to the very highest of standards spotlessly clean very comfortable bed gorgeous shower room TV worked I have to say it was worth it still for a b&b was more than I really wanted to pay but it was stunning and the breakfast was delicious thank you Darren

Lovely B&B in York
Alcuin Lodge is perfectly situated, ten minutes walk to either the station or into the centre of York, in a quiet suburban area. Darren made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Everything was immaculate and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was pre booked, there was a good choice and everything was freshly cooked. There were also snacks available from the "tuck shop" in the evening. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place, and I hope to visit again in the future.

Couldn’t fault a thing Darren is the best host knowing how much to chat and gives you space. The location is excellent a lovely walk to the water with a beautiful park near by. Also a great pub at the top of the road. Secluded hide away

Great place to stay
Spotlessly clean accommodation in a great location only 10 minutes walk from the Minster. Darren was a super host who had thought through extra procedures for Covid. This included room keys and car pass in a sanitised tray, everyone was asked to clean their hands before using the stairway and breakfast room and each table had allocated cutlery and condiments. Darren also provided suggestions for where to eat and we mustn't forget the home baking on our tea tray each day! We highly recommend staying here.
