"The Takinoyu Hotel was superb! It was larger than I thought and very luxurious feeling. We booked one of their more traditional rooms which was very spaceous and the view of the garden was lovely. We didn't have time to visit their baths but they looked very nice. The staff were great also, very friendly and helpful! Overall excellent hotel, would definitely stay here again! "

"The breakfast is truly an amazing value!! Such an abundance of healthy, hearty food for 500 yen. The bath is quite nice! The lobby and lounge areas are super swanky, too! The single-person room was good enough for me! A complementary snack and teabags, with a hot water pot and a pitcher of ice water provided. Very polite and kind staff at checkin, breakfast, and checkout. They also held my luggage for the day after checkout."

"This ryokan was exceptional in terms of service and cleaniness. The dinners served in the room were SO GOOD! I stayed 3 nights and each night was an entirely new spread of delicious samplings of the best of Yamagata's food: tender morsels of Yamagata beef, fresh sashimi, pearly shiney Yamagata rice etc., kept being served and there wasnt a night I felt hungry in the middle of the night. The room was elegantly furnished. The massage chair was a definite plus! In-room onsen was terrific. I do not...
