Lovely old building, very soft beds. Good nights sleep, excellent breakfast.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Was disappointed in that for a very old coaching inn, the room lacked any warmth or character and bed was very uncomfortable.
It provided what i needed as a room for the night but i doubt I'd rebook.
Lovely place. Newly decorated and refurbished room and ensuite. Great value too.

Upon arrival the staff were very helpful and were also able to provide us with early check in. Staff were happy, welcoming and polite. Our family room was suitable for our needs for a one night stay with tea/coffee making facilities, free bottles of water and nice clean towels that were fresh and without nasty smells. The bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent value for money, cooked to order and using quality ingredients, plenty of re-fills for tea/coffee etc, and a good array of jams & cereals. There was also a vegan option if preferred.
On the whole this was a positive experience, the only real negative was that the Inn is a little tired. This in no way ruined out stay, the staff and facilities made up for this fact. Would stay again if in the area. We did not have time to mooch around much as we were attending a nearby wedding, but the area has some lovely countryside and Findon appears to be a quaint village. The Inn location is quiet without much traffic noise.
Great experience again at the Village House Coaching Inn. Great friendly staff, great service, great food and near to Goodwood. My second time and just as enjoyable as the first!!
Nice rural area, quiet and pretty. Inside the Inn, the upstairs and corridor where the rooms are situated could do with an update. It was tricky locking the rooms as the door never really shut properly. Cleanliness was fairly decent but a very noisy bed and the headrest was extremely wobbly!
It's a coaching inn in a nice quiet location, convenient for touring the South Downs. The service was fine and the young staff were willing and welcoming. However, we did have some issues. The worst was that our room (no 6) was very cold - we were told that the heating could not be turned on as it was June (admittedly an unseasonably cold spell) and we were also refused a supplementary heater on spurious "health and safety" grounds. The room was advertised as a "suite" but was in fact just a normal en-suite double room. It was clean but the bed was hard and uncomfortable. The windows were in very poor condition and the sills very dirty outside the double glazing, which gives the impression that the room isn't as clean as it actually is. We had dinner one night - the service was very good but the food only OK (we had the pork burger - a "special" but it was quite dry) and next night we went to the pub next door instead and had a much better meal. The full English breakfast was fine, but the "vegetarian" breakfast was just the full English without the bacon and sausages - it really isn't hard to find good veggie sausages these days and if I had been a vegetarian I'd have been annoyed at having to pay the same price. Really a bit disappointing all round.
Very nice stay room was clean and tidy tea coffee and biscuits in room nice tv shower and toilet were a bit tight in bathroom lovely lady i presume she was the landlady very friendly and helpful 😊
The hotel had lovely features and warm friendly staff food looked lovely.. didnt have a meal through visiting family so had food elsewhere... did have a few pints in the evening great choices of drinks and the staff were lovely.. stayed in single room which was immaculate a huge beer gardenwith loads of seating. didnt have breakfast as left early to get back to wales... overall the hotel was great and.would definitely use this hotel again.. its a credit to to you and set in a lovely little village with another pub across the road a butchers and shop/post office... plus a small car park but plenty of street parking
Terrific 500 year heritage property worth seeing as a past local coaching inn. Owner and staff are as friendly as can be and very helpful, the food was excellent, modest room size. You are well taken care of and the village is one of a kind in the region, easy bus transport to Worthing and Brighton. I recommend the Village House and will stay again.
