"Place clean, adequately furnished/equipped, very basic. Towels were clean but hard and uninviting - same colour and washed/dried with softener would solve. Major issue was old mattress, turned over to a spring twanging accompaniment, and prod in the back. Bedding clean but needs replacing. "

"The property, views, and access to local amenities are fantastic. The house was amazing, well appointed, comfortable, and immaculately clean. The hot tub is brilliant and our kids loved spending the time in it after a full on day walking or at the beach. Johnny as a host is just one of those authentic people you meet in life, warm, friendly and an all round great guy that couldn’t have done anymore to make us feel welcome or share local knowledge. "It's a real shame because the chalet has potential. But there is no investment/maintenance of it. The toilet is plagued with mould. There is nearly no storage so if you go for longer than a weekend, it is a challenge to have to live out of bags. The chalet seems to be one of the only ones that has not been painted recently. "We really enjoyed our stay at surfs up beach house. It was really close to the beach, the beach has lots of waves and there was lots of nice places to go walking with our dogs. "For context, holiday parks aren't my thing as a rule. That said, I'd revisit this chalet if I was coming back to the area, no issues. It's a good spot to visit this part of the coast and if you do want to use the holiday park facilities you couldn't be better placed, a very short walk from the pools, the shop and the bar/restaurant. The chalet has everything you need for your stay and is well looked after and comfy."

"We had a great weeks stay at the Thistledown lodge. The property was very clean and perfect for our arrival. The instructions/directions were clear and made for easy arrival. The lodge was perfect for us and our dog. The lodge had everything we required for a great stay. The hot tub was perfect as well, while the dog enjoyed her time in the garden (which was fully secure for her to roam about freely) The lodges location was a short walk to two great local pubs, which both served great food....

"The hot tub, the biggest attraction for us, could’ve been a few degrees warmer as it was raining and very cold outside but the place was spacious, pleasant and we had a lovely 2 night stay which was the perfect amount."

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely lodge albeit a bit tired in places. Peaceful, quiet and comfortable. Hot tub was lovely, warm and smelled clean. Staff very friendly and professional. Only drawback is it's 5 miles from nearest shop so if you forget anything you have a treck to get whatever. Gorgeous meal in restaurant. Would return"

"This property was sheltered from the winds and had a parking space. The kitchen was well equipped, water was hot, the beds were comfortable and the owner was responsive and willing to help. But the furniture in the sitting room needs replacing. The settees were sagging and uncomfortable and the only table had a missing caster and was tricky to assemble and cramped to use. We stayed at the end of the season, perhaps next year will be different."

"Me and my friends stopped here for 4 nights. The house had everything you needed for a short or long stay and also had fantastic views! There were some lovely walks both within Woolacombe and also to Ilfracombe. John was also great and responded quickly to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend! "
