Cedar House is a relaxing modern retreat tucked away in a modern gated development, a stones throw from Whitstable High Street with its eclectic mix of independent shops, cool cafes, beachfront pubs and glorious seafood restaurants. With space for two cars (and a guest spot if you need it) you can forget parking worries, so just relax, unwind and throw yourself into the Whitstable experience!
You check in using a key box code. I am however local to the area, so if you need anything or have any questions, I am only a phone call away and a short drive!
Whether you’ve been eating lobster whilst watching the famous Whitstable sunset or bringing back a fish and chip supper, Cedar House with its designer inspired décor, natural materials, original artwork and vintage pieces provide a cool modern environment that will make you will feel instantly at home.
Cedar House is a great location for sport lovers too. The local cricket ground is so close you can actually hear the sound of leather on willow and the house is named for its view of the club’s magnificent cedar tree. Golf lovers will be pleased to hear the Whitstable and Seasalter Golf course is a five-minute stroll away, and for those less keen on golf keep on walking and you’ll hit the famous ‘pub on the beach’, The Old Neptune.
Our favourite day in Whitstable includes an early morning walk across the golf course for a beach swim, breakfast at The Windy Corner café, lazy read on the beach, picnic lunch from Wheelers, browsing the vintage shops or galleries with an ice-cream (or cycling up to Herne Bay if we feel virtuous!). Back at Cedar House there’s ample time for a breezy nap or a squint at the cricket before heading off to watch the sun go down over cocktails at the Continental or beers at The Lobster Shack. After your stay at Cedar House you can tell us about your favourite Whitstable day!
You have access to all areas of the property apart from the garage.
Once inside, Cedar House’s first floor open-plan living area feels light and airy. This generous space is perfect for family suppers or entertaining, cosy TV evenings on the large L-shaped sofa (pulls out into a double sofa bed), or for curling up with a book in our reading nook. If you fancy yourself as a masterchef, the contemporary kitchen is well-equipped with Bosch appliances, Nespresso machine and acres of counter space.
After a long day paddling on the beach, cycling the Crab and Winkle Way or getting your hit of culture at nearby Margate’s Turner Gallery, you’ll be looking forward to a good night’s sleep. At Cedar House we have two double bedrooms that continue the theme of contemporary design and natural materials. Warm toned wood, organic cotton bedding and towels, vintage mirrors and original artwork all combine to create a calming atmosphere with a quirky personal twist. The single bedroom is decorated in seaside tones for dreamy nights sleep (there is a spare single mattress underneath, but once out, there is no floor space either sides of the 2 beds).
As well as an ensuite shower in the master bedroom there is a contemporary family bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom. Also on the ground floor, a utility room gives guests space to wash swimwear and beach towels and a convenient under stairs hanging area keeps coats, shoes and umbrellas tidily out of your way.
