Excellent accommodation
Rambling Rose is a lovely place to stay and is well decorated. It is lovely and clean with good beds and great bathrooms. The location is excellent. The building work at the hotel was no problem.

Fabulous cottage
Probably the most well equipped cottage we've ever stayed in. Everything was supplied, including some starter toiletries and a lovely welcome hamper. Rambling Rose is pretty much perfect... but oh my, the sofa is really uncomfortable!

Perfect Rambling Rose
Definitely the most well equipped cottage that we have ever stayed in. Everything was supplied and the lovely starter hamper was a really nice touch. The only negative thing to say about this cottage is that the step out of the lounge onto the patio is very high, but everything else was great.

Rambling Rose Sandsend
We had a fabulous week away in the lovely cottage, it was just like home from home. There was everything there which you needed, spotlessly clean, gorgeous white cotton bedding ,very comfy beds & lovely soft white towels. We were even able to watch Wimbledon in bed after plenty of sea air! The communication between Molly at Stays was brilliant so helpful & made sure our stay was perfect. Thank you! Looking forward to returning soon!

Great Stay
Very well-located and clean cottage with all modern conveniences. The welcome pack is a nice touch. Needs a bit of TLC to fix small things. Seems there used to be blackout curtains in the downstairs bedroom, but had been removed while bracket markings still visible. rather annoying that the TV's do not work as they should with channel info. Some damage on the wall by the door needs repair. A sun umbrella on the patio would be nice to sit outside. Might also be nice to have some fold-up beach chairs available for guest use.

Superbly (newly) furnished cottage in excellent location - five stars!
A recent refurbishment and refurnish has made Rambling Rose a super-stylish yet very comfortable place to stay. All furnishings and furniture, decoration seem new, including bath, shower and bedrooms. Extremely well equipped kitchen (including posh coffee maker!), lovely soft sheets and bedding in bedrooms make for a good night's sleep. The location is fabulous - surrounded by the gorgeous features of the Raithwaite Estate, there is an easy footpath or quick drive to the popular Sandsend with great places to eat. We will be back!

Cottage in a great location
This is a great cottage, very comfortable in a brilliant location. I would give it 4 out of 5. It would be 5 out of 5 if the kitchen was a little better equipped as there are not many dishes available if you want to self-cater, and if the internal lights that have failed were fixed.

Lovely location
Well appointed and comfortable holiday home, everything you need is provided and lovely welcome hamper. Great for coastal walks and access to Sandsend. Nice to be able to use the hotel spa (although small charge applicable, which given the price of the property, could be included). Good information and instructions provided, all contact free. Well thought out process.

Rambling Rose
The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The nearby hotel had lovely grounds to walk in, and a lovely menu. There is a nice walk into Sansend very close to the cottage and it's a short walk to the bus stop for trips up and down the coast.

Liked: Check-in
A bit impersonal and unloved
The cottage itself is solidly built and the kitchen and bathrooms of good quality. The problems we had were with the quality of the furnishings etc and the difficulty, despite the admitted best efforts of the agent, in getting things resolved. Both bedrooms had broken blinds. So we remained in the dark all week. The kitchen bin lid didn’t shut. We got a new bin after 4 nights. There were no vegetable knives. We got knives after 4 nights. There were stains on the sofa and one of the occasional tables. One of the cupboards was sticky to the touch. I suspect too much furniture polish. Another table had a nearly completely broken leg. The frying pan was past its best with a really wobbly handle. There was a large, heavy slab for chopping on but no normal, lift able and washable chopping boards. There were no bowls for food preparation or presentation. The agent says this will be addressed. The living room furniture was generally flimsy. The place is due for redecoration, with pretty grubby walls. We didn’t like the fact that the duvet was synthetic and the mattress cover rubber backed. It’s not possible to contact the owner. The property is run by an agency in York, an hour plus away, who aren’t open on Saturday afternoons so we couldn’t even raise our concerns till Monday and they don’t have anyone nearby to sort things out. It is further from the sea than we thought. The hotel grounds are lovely, wooded and expansive. It’s a 10 minute brisk walk to the end of the drive. From there you can scramble down to the beach. It’s another 20 minute walk to Sandsend. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have young children. On the plus side, we liked the area, great beaches and cliff walks, and were happy to be kept awake by owls hooting in the woods. Generally, though, over priced for the quality offered.
