There is lots to do in Whitby.

Whilst in Whitby you have to try the world famous fish and chips available from numerous cafes on the sea front. Whitby was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Dracula which he wrote whilst staying at Whitby. On the hill there is the historic ruins of Whitby Abbey which was the inspiration for Carthax Abbey in Dracula. Whitby also has a sea faring history being the home of Captain Cook which there is a Captain Cook museum in which you can discover more about the legendary sea farer. At high season there is August Whitby Regatta when you can see some amazing ships and boats. At the life boat museum you can find about the various daring rescues performed by the Whitby lifeguards over the many years.

If music is your thing then Whitby is the place for you hosting the world famous Whitby Goth Weekend twice a year, the 1960s weekend, the Folk Festival, Jazz and Soul Festival plus you also get to hear music and see films at the Bram Stokers International Film Festival at Whitby.

All in all your stay at Wildgoose Cottage will be fun, memorable and one that will stay in your hearts and minds forever.

Tired
The property is in a fabulous location but it is in my opinion tired it needs to be well cleaned and all areas to be checked when the clients leave as there was food in the freezer and toiletries in the cupboard in the down stair bathroom cob webs on the extractor fans and it all needs a redecorate

Weekend getaway
Lovely weekend away. Cottage in a beautiful location surrounded by wildlife. We saw dolphins, owls, and a badger. Only improvements would be a better quality mattress and wifi as phone signal is very poor inside.

We were a little disappointed with some of the cleanliness
We thought that the cottage was a little tired and needed a little TLC. It is a lovely cottage and liked the quiet location which is what we wanted. Its just a shame that the overall experience was spoilt by a few minor issues like the overgrown grounds and all the spiders webs.

Wildgoose cottage. The best kept secret, shhhhh
As returning customers the cottage was as expected. Easy to access with fantastic adjacent side parking. Secluded enough to almost be hidden but accessible to the people who know. We love the cottage at night as you look into the dark sky away from the street lights. We will look forward to returning again in 2025.

Wild goose Cottage -Long weekend break
Recently returned from a short break at Wildgoose Cottage. The cottage is deceptively spacious, warm and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. It is ideally situated just off the Cleveland Way to walk into Whitby, a flat walk approx 45-50 minutes or to Robin Hoods Bay a more undulating walk approx 2.5 hours, both with fantastic views. The ‘lane’ up to the cottage is a rough single track bridleway, currently, with several potholes. Many other cottages we’ve stayed in provide a file/card with information re appliances, recycling, disposal of fire ashes etc I felt this would have been useful here as we were unsure which bin recycling was to go in- councils are very different. There were a few minor maintenance issues, reported as we left but these did not detract from a very enjoyable stay in a very tranquil location.

Relaxing peaceful stay
Wildgoose Cottage was a fabulous, away from it all break. The only noise we heard was nature, cows, pheasant and lots of birds. We were lucky to see a deer with a fawn and boxing hares. This is a very relaxing place to stay but a good 45 minutes walk to the centre of Whitby either along the road or the Cleveland Way.
