Easter at Burnham Cottage
WE had a fantastic 4 night stay at Burnham Cottage, great facility ideally located, all fitted out to a high standard, we would love to return and have no problem recommending the cottage i note in the visitors book comments about the stairs being steep but that's the same in all the houses in the area, don't let that put you off

Lovely cottage in an excellent location
Lovely little fisherman’s cottage, perfect for 2 and our dogs. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed and lounge area with a log burner which was cosy in the evenings. Excellent proximity to Wells and all its amenities.
Stayed 7 nights in Sep 2024

Cosy stay at Burnham Cottage. Very good location in Wells.
We had a pleasant few days in Wells staying at Burnham Cottage. It was just right for 2 of us and had (almost) everything we needed! We couldn't find any firelighters to get the log burner going and arrived after shops had closed, so the Golden Fleece pub very kindly gave us some as it was a chilly February evening. The underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom was a cosy addition, and we were pleased to find teabags, milk and a carrot cake in the kitchen! We enjoyed using it as a base for walks in the area. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay slightly short and left on Thursday evening rather than Friday morning because of the storm forecast for Friday.

Burnham cottage
The cottage is beautiful, very well equipped with everything you need for your break. Stairs are very steep so for those who might have trouble climbing them it would be something to think about but other than that it’s a perfect location for a stay in Wells. We went out of season so had no problem parking the car over the road but I can imagine that will get harder as the summer months arrive. Great garden, ideal for our golden retriever to stretch his legs although with all the walking he was shattered!! Would definitely look into returning for another stay.

Great location as long as you can park!
This was our second visit to this lovely cottage. It has everything we need and is in a lovely location. 5 minute stroll to town but just on edge so not too busy. Only downside is you have to be lucky to park outside!

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful part of the world!
The cottage was beautiful and perfecly situated in a central position within Wells. The fire worked very well in the colder evenings and the beds was super comfy after a long day of walking on the pristine beaches of North Norfolk.

Delightful Cottage Perfectly Located for Town & Beach
Delightful little cottage just a short 2 minute walk from the town, harbour and not to far from the amazing Wells beach. The cottage itself is small, but still enough room for 2 adults, our small dog and 2 young children (3 & 4 years) to run around without getting under each others feet. The garden is ideal. Parking is a little tricky as it's on street, but keep an eye out during the day for the day trippers to depart and you can generally get parked up opposite the cottage. Well equipped with pretty much everything you need and loads of bath/hand towels and tea towels supplied to last the week. It would benefit from having some plastic plates, bowls and cups available for the kids...having to give ceramic and glass ones to 3 and 4 year old kids is a recipe for disaster, which thankfully didn't occur during our stay! The stairs are a little steep and tricky which you'd expect from an old Norfolk bolthole, so wouldn't recommend this place if you are not completely stable on your feet. Also, the addition of a stair gate at the top would allow parents with younger children to sleep with both eye's closed! Overall, it's a great little hideaway for a short break and with £20 spent on some plastic kitchenware and a stair gate it would be perfect for any family situation.

Good location for Wells town and Quay side
Small well appointed cottage on the main route into Wells very close to all amenities. Enclosed secure garden with grass was a big bonus for our dog. Great views from the 2nd bedroom towards the coast, we even saw an owl hunting. The stairs are very steep, in my view not suitable for young children or elderly. Would have preferred a dishwasher to a washing machine. The only source of heat for the lounge area is the log burning stove - lovely but only one days supply of wood is cheeky when its the only source of heat. A plug in, supplementary, heater would have been useful. it was very cold in Feb! This property has some quirks which you would expect from its age, it has been updated sympathetically and was a very comfortable cottage with good quality furnishing, modern bathroom and comfortable beds.

Short break at burnham cottage
This was our second stay at the cottage. As with the first stay - no kindling or logs left. Stains on sofa. Variety badly stained at top of stairs. Water leaking at back of bath on to the flooring as it was 18 months ago. I did leave a message in the cottage last time. It appears that the hot tap is loose and every time someone has a shower there is a lot of water - shame as this will damage the flooring. Hoover is missing its handle and a pipe so us next to useless.Having said all that the cottage is in a good location and comfortable and well equipped.

Comfy cottage, perfect location.
We spent a lovely few days exploring the lovely beaches and towns near Wells next the sea. The cottage is cosy, the garden was safe and perfect for our small dog. Small points like the parking - we parked in the nearby car park which was £7 for 24hours, no tea towels or a single loo roll - meant that we haven’t given the cottage an ‘excellent’ review, but the beds are comfy and it was a perfect base for us to walk and explore. We would book again.

Wonderful location
A very comfortable property close to all amenities in Wells. Quiet location with good garden, comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. Properties either side were quiet. Parking not really an issue but were warned about that. Information sent by Norfolk Hideaways comprehensive and discount vouchers very useful. Points that could have been better: - the handrail on the stairs (made from 2 oars) was pretty but very impractical - some rather large cobwebs under bedside table and occasional tables in living room - instructions on reducing the temperature of the bedroom heater could have been clearer - would have been useful to have been warned that neighbour has dogs (the double fronted property to the right)! - surprised that glass in front door not frosted as this would have improved privacy

Dog Friendly Holiday
We've been to Wells a number of times this was the first time using Norfolk Hideaways and Burnahm Cottage. Location is great, the garden is lovely, quality of the accommodation is good and very comfortable. Great for the dog etc. There were a few minor issues: there were no logs for the woodburner even though the welcome brochure said they would be and to use only the wood provided. Wasn't an issue as the house was warm enough but would be in winter. The DVD didn't work but again not an issue if you've netflix but not everyone does have. Bit of a lack of cupboard space to store food, but then we ate out most times. The stairs are steep so if you have mobility issues this may not be the cottage for you.

Fab holiday
Fab holiday, cottage in brilliant location, excellent for dogs with super garden. Clean and tidy......only one negative.....a welcome pack was promised on arrival with ‘enough supplies to see you through the first day’ .....there were four or five tea bags and some coffee but nothing else! At least some milk would have been good! Had to go out and buy our own welcome pack! But overall an excellent choice for a place to stay

Lovely House
Lovely house in a very convenient location for everything Wells has to offer. Beautiful secure garden and great facilities. Only downside, the barbecue was missing and the shelves & grill pan to oven?

Burnham Cottage Wells a week's stay
Burnham Cottage is situated on a busy main road and not in the prettiest of locations, however it is close to car parks, shops and the harbour. Inside the cottage is small but adequate and is on split levels, the bathroom being on the ground floor. The stairs are as described in that they are steep and we felt that this made it a bit precarious getting up in the middle of the night to use the loo. We are in our sixties and took our granddaughter and we all found the stairs hard going especially carrying luggage up and down. We also found the cottage to be grubby and found the grill pan, roasting tin and plastic container in a disgusting state. The bathroom floor corners were dirty and had an accumulation of fluff and hairs that had been missed. On first glance it all looked tidy and clean but in reality this was not the case. Kitchen crockery and saucepans were new and of good quality. Bed linen was clean. The outside area is nothing to get excited about with a small patio and neglected garden. Would we go again..No! Would we use Norfolk Hideaways again...No! Did we report the faults...yes and was told that had we informed them straight away then a housekeeper would have been sent...we had only been in the property for a couple of days! A huge disappointment to us all.

Lovely cottage in excellent location
A lovely cottage, with everything that we could need, and within easy walking distance of the town, the harbour and the beach. Great to have a nice garden, and easy to get parked on the street outside. Plenty of space, comfy bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen.

Burnham Cottage - charming cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at Burnham Cottage. The cottage was in an excellent position close to the beach and to the town where there were plenty of places to eat and drink and many independent shops to browse. The cottage was well equipped and nicely decorated with some lovely pictures on the walls and the beds were really comfortable. The garden was a nice size and captured the sun. The wood burner was good to have though there were meant to be logs supplied with an honesty box but we didn't find either. One other very small point was it could have done with some clothes pegs but all in all we had a fabulous stay and would happily stay there again.
