Shenanigans

(long read)

Come relax and unwind in this spacious, well-appointed home with amenities that allow appreciation for Colorado living but without the mosquitos found elsewhere.

All bedrooms feature:
Beds with 3'' mattress toppers / Desks / Room-darkening curtains / 58 - 65in tv's / Charging cables on each nightstand (Micro-USB, iPhone, USB-C).

The primary bedroom is the perfect spot for working remotely, or not, with a large desk and an additional charging station. It also has speakers that can be hooked in to your phone or laptop. The mattress is a Hybrid, medium-firm. In the spacious primary bath you will find double sinks and a walk in shower as well as a tub/shower combination in the hallway bath.

The kitchen / dining / living area is open and bright, making it the perfect spot to gather whilst engaging in a joyous brouhaha with family and friends. You will find everything you need for cooking meals in-house as well as a large, enclosed pantry. There is a full-size washer and dryer available with detergent provided. Also in the dining room is an area with two 24'' monitors that can be hooked up as additional screens should you need it.

NOTE: Monitors are connected via HDMI to a USB-C splitter. For Mac users, I had issues getting mine to recognize two extra displays using the USB-C so what you could do is unhook one HDMI from the splitter & plug it in directly to your Macbook & use the splitter for the other display. For Windows users, I had no issues at all getting it to recognize two extra displays and you want to go to settings > displays > extend monitor to displays > & then drag monitors in the order you want (1 on bottom, 2 top left, 3 top right).

NOTE: water bottles are in the bottom left cabinet directly across from the dishwasher as well as two (two liter?) bottles and are available for guests to use. These were on clearance & surely to never be $4 again so please ensure the same number of bottles at arrival is equal to the same number of them at departure.

For printing: Try adding it wirelessly on your laptop (be sure to first connect to the home's wifi) but if that doesn't work there is a printer cable in the bottom drawer of the printer stand that hooks in to the back of the printer & then you can run the USB-C end to your laptop, which also has an adapter to go from USB-A (rectangular USB ports) to USB-C (oval USB ports) but please, if you need to take off the adapter, please put it back on afterwards. In the top drawer of the printer stand there is a three-hole punch and a stapler. Second drawer, extra printer paper. Third drawer, printer cable.

The outdoor space at Unwind in Wellington is hard to beat, with three putt-putt style greens, an admittedly average back yard but with a rather decent patio that allows you to enjoy beautiful views and good fun the majority of the time. The yard is fully fenced and backs up directly to an open space and walking path with a gate that allows easy access.

If choosing to spend time indoors, you will still have lots of entertainment options. Roku allows for use of many streaming platforms and hundreds of channels on all televisions throughout the home. Digital antennas instead of rabbit-ears have been installed so local channels come in clear (essential for the the games on Sunday).

The somewhat-finished basement is the perfect place to hang out as well, especially for those avoiding sunlight. It boasts a standard size pool table, foosball, ping pong, a poker table with a full poker set and for those who feel the need to unveil their inner Michael Jordan, a mini-basketball game. There is an extra bed downstairs in case anyone has partied too hard & can't make it up the stairs. In the living room, there is a Monopoly game and a deck of cards, allowing guests to engage in some innocuous hullabaloo & dare I say reminisce about 90's board games.

WiFi: The name and password are posted throughout the home.

CELL RECEPTION: Y'know how cell reception is..... never as good as what they show on the map. Verizon is good at the home, in town and most other places except for Hwy-1 in to Fort Collins where it is very spotty. Good everywhere else unless you hit the hills. I've heard AT&T actually has better reception than Verizon does & hear great things about their coverage around town but a time or two I've heard of poor reception with them. The home has very capable WiFi and will be a treat to anyone - especially those of us that grew up on dial-up (RIP 56k modem's - you did your job as best you could).

HOT WATER: I installed a re-circulation pump and have the automation set to turn the pump on when any bedroom, kitchen or living room light is turned off or on and is set to run for 10 minutes. All the pump does is keep the PEX-A hot water line filled & uses excess pressure to recirculate it via cold-water lines, so that it takes less time to get it at the faucet, sink, shower etc.

POOL NOTE: There is a community pool and for guests to be able to use it I need the full names of everyone wanting to at least 2-3 days before check-in. The pool company will then put you on a list & I 've been told they check and ID when you get there. Although it's only one street over it is almost a 1/4 mile walk (1,280ft per google maps).

EXTRA LUGGAGE FOR SALE: I have accumulated 4 pieces of airline-style luggage that are kept in the basement utility room and are available for purchase of $5 for a small one and $10 for a larger one, in case you're flying in and intend to bring things back with you. Just let me know which one's you choose. There is a brown-ish looking purse type of thing, which I hereby make no claims of knowledge of or it's potential uses, also $5.

LOCAL AREA:
Wellington is a charming, growing community. With several local breweries and restaurants, as well as fast food options, you don’t have to travel far to find delicious offerings. Fort Collins is also an easily accessible option and a larger town with a wide variety of food, world class breweries, theaters, live music venues and miles of hiking and bike paths (about a 15 minute drive to the southwest). Unwind in Wellington is 35 minutes south of Cheyenne, WY and approximately one hour north of Denver.

ADDITIONAL ITEMS TO NOTE:
- There are cameras on the exterior of the home at all entrances for security purposes. There are no cameras located on the interior of the home.
- Outdoor quiet hours are 10:00pm-9:00am
- Just beyond the open space that borders the back of the property there is a branch of the BNSF railroad which runs north/south. Trains utilize this line anywhere from 1-4 times each day and will typically pass by quickly, usually in less than a minute.
- One bay of the three-car garage will be closed off and not available to guests, however two bays are available for your use.
- There are options for storage of personal items in the basement and/or garage for the duration of your stay, if needed. All items must be removed upon check out.
- If you do not see your preferred dates available, please reach out and we may be able to open up the schedule to accommodate your request.

HOUSE RULES / FINES / CHARGES:
- No smoking/vaping inside house ($500 charge for doing so)

- No littering or discarding your cigarette butts ANYWHERE on the property ($500 charge for doing so)

- All pets must be approved at booking and subject to pet fees. Pets not disclosed at booking will be subject to $300 charge in addition to daily fee.

- Tampering/manipulating security cameras will result in immediate eviction from property and a $250 charge. The same charge will result from tampering with any of the leak sensors or door sensors.

- No open-invite parties or gatherings of more than 10 people without prior approval (unless I'm invited)

** Trash goes out Wednesday night
** Lawn maintenance is Tuesday or Wednesday early afternoon & he will walk around the back yard to spray for weeds

Marc is a kind and generous host!
Marc is a kind and generous host! We had a waterline break in our home and Marc was able to accommodate my family of 4 and business needs very last minute. Communication was top notch and the home was more than what we could have asked for! Kitchen was fully stocked (including waffles), beds were comfortable, and we had a blast in the game room down stairs. Marc helped to turn a stressful situation into what felt like a vacation. Thank you Marc!!

Above and beyond!
We had an excellent stay and the hosts went above and beyond to ensure that we were taken care of! The home is very comfortable and had everything we needed. I want to thank Stacy for everything she did for us during our stay. We ended up needing to extend our visit and she was extremely responsive to this request and helped work it out with VRBO. I also left something behind and Stacy personally went to the home and found it and returned it to me. I would highly recommend this home!

Christmas get away during home renovation
Needed a place for Christmas break with adult kids home during our home renovation. The place was great and fit the bill perfectly. Marc was communicative and welcoming. The house was plenty stocked. We did bring some of our own cookwear just for familiarity, not because we couldn't have made what was provided work for us. Only negative things: The bed linens had pet hair on them. they had been laundered, but the washer and dryer had bundles of hair in them and transferred to the clean sheets. We cleaned the appliances out, rewashed the sheets and felt better then. There is a train that goes behind the house. The nearby street has no crossing gates. Therefore the train blows loudly when crossing the street. Doesn't matter what time of day or night it is. It's loud. I'm pretty sure the house description mentioned it so I can't say we weren't warned. But no printed warning could prepare us. We got used to it pretty quickly. Overall, we really appreciated the house. Very comfy, cozy week for us.

Home away from home.
Our family of 4 and one dog enjoyed our extended stay at this property. The owner has it fully furnished with everything you need for one night or a longer stay. We loved the quiet, safe town of Wellington and used the paved walking trail and green space behind the house daily. The kids were excited to see the occasional train pass behind the home too. Marc was quick to respond to questions and checked in to make sure we were enjoying our stay. He even immediately brought us a snow shovel once he realized it wasn’t left from the previous winter. I highly recommend this property!!

A week in Wellington, CO
Needed a place to use as a base camp while exploring Colorado and also doing a little business up in Cheyenne, WY. This home worked out very well as it was just a short 30 min drive from Cheyenne and we could also get to lots of restaurants and walking trails in Fort Collins in about 20 minutes. We also got to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park in about 40 minutes and you are about an hour from down down Denver. The home is pretty new and the neighborhood is very clean and safe. We brought our dogs and working with Marc was a breeze. The things that surprised us were that the back yard was not fenced in...exactly as the photos show. We assumed because it was dog friendly that it would be fenced in, but that is not the case. There is a walking trail right behind the house, but you don't have a gate or door to get to it, so you will need to walk down the street and do a loop...not a big deal. The back yard is also not in great shape. Its on a steep slope and the small patio is about 4' off the ground, so if you have kids, or in our case, an older dog, we just didn't allow them back there at all for fear they would fall. You should also know there is a train that runs next to the house, right off the walking trail, which was a bit of a surprise for us late at night. The home itself is great. 3 nice bedrooms on a single story, with 2 bathrooms and a nice kitchen. There is also laundry which was helpful for us to go home with clean clothes. There is keyless entry too, so getting in and out is super easy with the code Marc will give you. The only other thing I would add is that the town of Wellington is small. Like one grocery story small. So if you want to eat something that isn't McDonalds, Subway or Burger King, you will probably be driving to either Fort Collins or Cheyenne...which isn't that bad as both are very close. Another cool thing is a local park we found on the last day...Wellington Community Park. The first time we found a dog park with a small pond for the dogs to swim and play...its on the North side of town. Great for kids, or you can even use their batting cages. Marc is a good guy....if you need a place in the area, this is a great option.
