Stunning waterfront on bluff with sauna, firepit!
Summary:
Book Bird’s Eye View for waterfront tranquility, starry nights, and fresh local food. With spacious living, breathtaking views, and a seamless blend of nature and comfort, this home is the ideal retreat for your next vacation!
The Space:
Get ready for a dreamy escape where the journey begins as soon as you turn down the long drive to your riverside retreat! Expansive grounds and the gentle sounds of the Corrotoman River welcome you, setting the stage for pure relaxation. The simple modern charm of the impeccably designed home, with windows on the water all around, envelopes you and makes you feel right at home. Head down to the dock and watch the fish jumping, hop in a kayak to paddle around or just sit, relax, and breathe a deep sigh of relief. You have arrived.
Step inside, and be greeted by a spacious, sunlit multi-room living space where giant windows offer stunning river views. The open layout flows easily from the cozy living room with L-shaped couch, gas fireplace and tv, to the fully-equipped stunning kitchen with breakfast area, lounge, and dining space. The entire back wall of the home is windows, so whether you are cooking a meal for family or friends, enjoying farm fresh local food at the two dining areas, or relaxing on the couch with a drink and some snacks, you will feel one with the river and nature. Bonus, we have a second refrigerator in the laundry room for overflow and it's a better place to store bait!
Step outside to the expansive deck with multiple areas to settle in and enjoy the outdoors and the scenery. On chilly days, fire up the beautiful gas firepit surrounded by two L-shaped couches and watch the flames dance as you listen to the birds call. Grab your morning coffee and settle in at the smaller seating area closer to the water.
The gas grill (hooked to a permanent gas source so you never run out!) and large dining table calls for al fresco meals enjoyed with friends and family. Not much beats eating outside with a water view with the ones you love!
If you can tear yourself away from all the grandeur of the outdoor space, choose your bedroom. Each room is named for a bird, so whether it's the Duck, Robin, Heron or Bluebird room, you can't go wrong! The bedroom configuration is perfect for all group types and sizes! We offer two king beds, one queen bed, and a bunk room with two bunk beds (4 twins). Great choices for a group of friends (we love hosting guy and gal getaways), two small families (put those kids together in the bunk room) or three generations, as we have main level bedrooms. The queen room even has a door out to the expansive deck!
There is so much to do right here on the property! Experience the sauna with large picture window overlooking the water and cool off in your outdoor shower. Later on, gather the group around the massive firepit with comfy Adirondack chairs, and watch the sun go down and the stars come out. Smore's anyone? Ping pong is set up in the garage, or challenge someone to some outdoor Jenga.
Bring the boat or rent one! With a nearby launch at Yankee Point Marina, you can bring your own (nominal trailer parking fee) or rent one of theirs (boating license required). Spend a day exploring the River (and maybe the Bay too!) by boat. Yankee Point also has a great restaurant and grill, and outdoor concerts during the warmer months.
This 4-bedroom retreat has everything you need, whether you’re after quiet relaxation or outdoor adventure. A place where memories are made and nature provides the best backdrop. Add it to your wish list, or better yet, book it now!
We warmly welcome dogs to our space. Please note there is a $25 per pet per night fee. Thanks!
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire property. The dock is private. Your unique door code is provided 72 hours prior to arrival.
The Neighborhood:
Virginia's Northern Neck is a peninsula surrounded by unique and beautiful marshes, creeks, and bounded by the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers. You'll find many opportunities to explore out on the water. And Bird's Eye View is right on the Corrotoman River, a tributary of the Rappahannock, which flows out to the Chesapeake Bay.
Close to several mid-Atlantic cities, this vacation rental is the perfect place for gathering family or friends. At the end of a long drive, this retreat is perfect for decompressing. Launch our four kayaks, or bring the boat! For dinner you could throw some local oysters on the bbq, grill up some fish from your charter excursion, or cruise into Irvington for dinner at one of highly regarded local restaurants, each with a different focus.
A few more miles down the road in White Stone, be sure to visit Adrift. Fantastic restaurant with locally raised chef trained at the Inn at Little Washington.
Enjoy the sauna, firepit, outdoor swings, and ping pong table (smaller sized table). Then, get out there and see what there is to see. Small towns, scenic byways, friendly locals, shore birds, the Chesapeake Bay....it all awaits. Pick up fresh farm items at a local farmers' markets, stop into a few unique boutiques, and grab some house made donuts at Chesapeake Donut Shop in White Stone.
CULTURE
Fancy some culture not of the aqua variety? Visit the Rappahannock Art League in Kilmarnock, Allure Art Center in White Stone, or take in a show at the Lancaster Playhouse. The small by very interesting Steamboat Museum in Irvington is a must visit. The kids will love the Steamboat inside.
We even have an orchestra in these parts during the fall and winter. And for rainy days, head over to Compass Entertainment in nearby Irvington. This amusement center has indoor arcade games, putt-putt, a climbing wall, a movie theater with reclining seats, a bar, a restaurant, and more. Kids of all ages love it!
NATURE
You may also enjoy exploring the Northern Neck's many designated "Trails," such as the Oyster Trail, the Wine Trail, the Water Trail, the Artisan Trail and, not to be outdone, the Coastal Waterfowl Trail. Just a short list of the many things to do and see in the Northern Neck. So, relax here, where you are more likely to rub elbows with oystermen and artists than lawyers and lobbyists. Rathlin River Retreat beckons you to slow down, breathe the salt air, and live like a local. You may even decide to become one.
Add to your wish list or book it right now!
Getting Around:
A car is required here. Feel free to come by boat too! Bring bikes if you wish, it's very flat here and a great way to see the area! Book a sailing charter to see the area from the water. We love Sail and Surf Adventures.
