Stay on a 350-acre Cattle Ranch! Brazos River! Tubing! Petting zoo!

"Amazing" - 360 West Magazine

Instead of renting a house next to other houses, why not stay in the middle of a ranch, with only cows as your neighbors! Enjoy true country living-- with wide wrap-around porch, grill, fire pit, and so much more! (Also check out our low weekly rate for staycations!)

(Includes a 42 inch tv with Directv)

- 15 min walk/5 min drive to the River (on property)
- Miles of hiking trails!

- We can set up a private cabana for you on one of the islands (small charge applies). -
- We can shuttle you up river for a lazy 2 hour float trip back to the ranch (small charge applies)

(A portion of your rental fee will be donated to Tarrant Area Foodbank for the less fortunate; last year our donation provided 12,000 meals!)

You’ll see deer, wild turkeys, birds of all kinds, and other wild things. After grilling your favorite dish, don’t miss the western sky as it comes alive with a million twinkling stars while the coyotes and owls serenade you.

YOUR HOUSE is a charming 100 year old farm house (two bedrooms, one and a half baths-- 8 beds) that we have updated—and continue to update, including the 42 inch tv with DIRECTV. It has a WRAP-AROUND PORCH with your grill and picnic table in the back yard--on the west side, the perfect place to take in the sunset in the big western sky.

BEDS
Master bedroom has a queen bed, back bedroom has 4 twin xl beds (two twins can be turned into a king with advance notice) plus a sleeper sofa in the living room.. Sleeps a total of 8 people. The barn next door with its 3000 square foot second floor has been turned into an indoor/outdoor space for all guests at the ranch and has sitting areas and rugs, and functions as a third bedroom with 4 roll-out beds for those (usually kids) who want to listen to the sounds of the night. Please note-sleeping in the barn is like sleeping outside as the windows have no glass. Bringing sleeping bags is a good idea if you have guests interested in sleeping in the barn.

Weatherford is only 10 minutes away and Granbury is only 20 minutes away; both have great restaurants. And this close to Fort Worth, you could actually commute and have a ranch to come home to at night-- note the lower pricing mid-week!
We offer discounts for weekly stays.

COMANCHE HISTORY
Go hunting for arrowheads and petrified wood. The COMANCHE were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos even when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, and until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Going further back in history, the Double F River Ranch has an abundance of petrified wood; they say that if you have fossilized sea shells you were under water, but if you have petrified wood you had land creatures. Hunting for petrified wood is a fun adventure here. (But leave them for the next person to discover!)

Great quiet get-away
The farmhouse is original, very rustic and quiet. The house (including the fridge) was very clean. The barnyard is a short walk down hill from the farmhouse and the experiences with all the animals was great fun - donkeys, chickens, sheep, horses, cats...etc. The farmhouse is very close to the barn with the cats and learning to rope a cow. It is also located on the road to get to the Brazos river - the farmhouse is at the top of the hill so keep that in mind to walk or drive down to the river. River is walkable so bring river shoes (Crocs worked great). Temperature in early March was above average (mid 70s to mid 80s). Window A/C units had a difficult time making the house cooler at night for sleeping but given it wasn't too hot outside it was fairly comfortable. While there is tv available, we did not use it since there was always something fun to be doing outside. Overall a very memorable getaway

Great place
My daughter celebrated her 12th birthday here. All of her friends loved hanging out in the barn and making smores on the fire pit. We hope to come back this summer. Also next year to celebrate her again.

Great Family Getaway
We had a great time staying at the farmhouse. There were plenty of activities for everyone. We explored the vast property, rode horses, enjoyed paddle boards, watched wildlife, threw axes and more. Our daughters loved the cats. We enjoyed the house as well. The kitchen was well stocked and the house was clean. No complaints from us. We will be back when it is warmer!

Beautiful location. A real Texas ranch. We kayaked the Brazos River from the property. We went 11 miles. Old-timey ranch house with cows grazing outside. A real Texas experience! Great communication with the property owner and staff. Would highly recommend.

The best country living experience
We had a wonderful time together with family. WiFi worked, plenty of kitchen utensils and toiletries. The venue was great fun for the kids and the adults could just sit and talk. The river was fun and relaxing. The cows came around for a visit and the kids fed the animals (great fun). We also spotted a swallowtail flycatcher and an abundance of wild flowers. We never spotted a bunting which I-had hoped we might. There was a new Webber gas grill which made cooking outside a breeze. The only negative was it was listed as a3 bedroom sleeps 8. The 3rd bedroom was the living room and the bed was the couch which was unusable. It looked moldy and no one would sleep on it so had to double up with the kids. My suggestion is either change the ad description or get a better sofa bed and describe it as such

A bit of everything
We enjoyed our visit the the Farmhouse and got to do a bit of everything. The house was roomy for our family of 4 and dog. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We grilled one night and has smores at the fire pit one night. We loved meeting all the animals and being able to feed them. The property was so beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed the walks exploring and coming across the fairy forest and a surprised bunny. We especially loved the Brazos. The access is great, the kayaks were fun and in good condition and we loved riding the "rapids" in the tubes. Rapids in 1-2 ft of water was just right for our young kids. And the life jackets were in great condition. We loved the visit and hope to come back another time.

We needed a break from the hustle and bustle of our lives. From ages 3 to adult, this property did not let anyone down. 350 acres of beautiful and relaxing views. The farmhouse is so quaint but we spent most of our time outdoors. We made many good memories during our stay!

If you want a nice quite getaway look no farther. Clean and quite old farm house. Owner Bill always answers his phone and is always pleasant and helpful. This place is full of interesting history and Bill knows a lot of it. We was fortunate on New Years Eve to get two rounds of pretty big flake snow. We love it and looking forward to going back. Thanks Bill.

Gorgeous land!! Great country house!
My husband, 95 year old mother, myself and our dogs stayed for a couple of weeks in November while our floors were being resurfaced. We had a wonderful stay! We had a fun time barbecuing, beautiful area by the river, visiting the animals and enjoying the quiet. The house had plenty of amenities. Highly recommend. I wish we could have brought our children when they were younger.

My my family and I recently stayed for a weekend and the only regret we have is that it wasn’t longer! The property is amazing, totally secluded with beautiful views! The ranch Forman was so nice to ensure my kids had chances to feed the animals, we loved Dennis, Patrick and the whole gang. If you are looking for a getaway in the country then you MUST check this place out. We look forward to going back for a longer visit!

BEST VACAY EVER
We had an amazing time on our stay at FFRR. The scenery is beautiful, the animals are funny and wonderful to visit and feed, the river was amazing. I had a hard time finding a vacation spot that would let me take my dogs, but Bill was wonderful about it. I don't know who had more fun the humans or the pups. The house was clean and had most everything we needed. I thought that I would be inside watching TV most of the time, but I never once turned on the TV. I spent all day everyday at the river. The river was low but we still had a fun-filled great time. I have found my vacation spot and will return every year!!! Thanks for the amazing vacation FFRR!!

Amazing Week!!
Our family of 7 had a blast this week! Check in was a breeze. Bill was super communicative and helpful. The house was clean, comfortable, and a gem. The property was just what we needed - time and space away from it all. Sunsets were spectacular. We saw deer in the distance practically every evening and morning. The river was a short 2-3 minute drive. We spent every day down there, playing in the water, on the beaches (there were sandy beaches and pebble beaches), it was so refreshing and peaceful. We used the fire pit for s’mores, the charcoal grill for cooking. The kitchen was setup for easy use, with everything you could need. The A/C worked great in all areas, except the bathrooms, but you just pop the windows and get a breeze in. The trails were fun to explore, the barn was “cool” according to our older kids, and “spooky” according the the younger ones, which just made them like it more! The only “bad” thing we’re the demon burrs that seemed to attach to your shoes and stabbed your fingers whenever you try to pick them off. Use a flat stone - we each started carrying one in our pocket to help with this. We would definitely go back, given the chance.

We had a wonderful stay and are already planning our return trip. The ranch is gorgeous and the access to the Brazos river is a great feature of this property. Good get out of city retreat
Nice and peaceful. Just what we was looking for. Just a couple notes for future visitors. The mircowave was very old and slow. If you are making mircowave meals or dinners bring your own. Same with the grill and smoker. I brought my own smoker so we was good. Owner was accommodating and easy to get in touch with. We would stay again.
