Big Bear during Hurricane Helene
This home is a fortress! We arrived on Thursday the day hurricane helene was coming to Waynesville. We arrived, the house was clean and beautiful. Friday morning we woke up and both roadways down the mountain were washed out, the garage flooded from a support wall breaking due to water flooding down the mountain. We lost power around 10am Friday but the generator kicked on almost instantly which was great. We were able to conserve our power to only cooking. We hung out on the beautiful back porch. The home could use more shovels and supplies incase of an emergency. On Sunday we were forced to evacuate the home. We had to help build a road to get our vehicles off the mountain. The neighbors on the mountain are absolutely wonderful and we all worked together to get us off the mountain. Waiting to see if Vacasa is going to give us a refund for forcing us to leave. The home has comfortable beds, great amenities and a fabulous property.

Perfectly wonderful property. Accommodated 10 people comfortably with no issues. The grounds are spectacular and the back porch with its view of the mountains is out of this world. Would recommend this property highly!

Beautiful property with plenty of room to spread out. The only downside was that the water heater couldn't keep up for 8 guests.

Amazing views on the patio
Overall the house is a great place to spend a week! We spent many mornings and evenings on the back porch (though closer to sunset since it gets pretty warm while the sun is above the horizon but it's gorgeous once the sun sets and the fireflies come out). There's tons of room in the house, including a nice studio above the garage and amenities like the billiard table and tennis court (bonus - there's a basketball hoop). If you do a lot of cooking, bring your favorite knives and maybe a pan or two. The kitchen is stocked but the knives and pans are worn. We also had an issue with the refrigerator on the main floor not keeping a cold temperature, but we were able to use the one in the basement. Someone else mentioned the musty smell in the apartment above the garage. That smell is likely sewer gas from the shower, and we had to keep the bathroom door closed to prevent it from spreading to the rest of the room. With a little TLC this place could really shine but even with the issues above, it's still an amazing house and we'd recommend it.

Broken down, moldy and musty. It was once a beautiful home but obviously Vacasa, the property man...
Big and spacious. Plenty of amenities to keep family entertained. We had multiple issues that caused inhabitable sleeping arrangements for 3 of my guests and no help from Vacasa with issue. Ceiling tiles missing with insulation exposed and leak in one bedroom. Missing bedding for 3 of my guests. Begged and pleaded with Vacasa to help but only got promises and no one ever came. The house has mold and rotting sheet rock. May have a plumbing issue because the apartment over garage had a musty odor.

Awesome Outdoor Spaces
This beautiful, uniquely decorated place provided our family a great place to stay and enjoy time together. We spent countless hours in the outside spaces. For us, the couch and 4 chair set up around the gas fire pit, overlooking the mountains was was the biggest highlight of the house. Also, we were left plenty of propane so that was a plus. We also enjoyed the tennis courts and hot tub. Upon arrival, we encountered one bedroom not being usable due to a recent water damage, but a refund was issued to rectify the situation. So, I appreciated the customer service on that.

Wonderful time and great house with incredible views!!! A++++
Every year our family rents a house to celebrate Christmas together early. This house was perfect and provided plenty of room for everyone. The views were also wonderful and the town just what we hoped for. So many great restaurants and small shops. Make sure if going in December you check the town calendar. We were there during the Christmas evening celebration that included horse drawn carriage rides, carolers and shops open into the evening to name a few. Thank you for making this time so special. Great place to stay with 9 adults.
The house was very spacious and clean. A few things to make the stay better. LP bottles were all empty? Lack of bath towels. Master bath only had one large towel. No garbage bags. Have to bring garbage with you when you leave??

Awesome staff trip
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here! We had 7 people in our group and we had so much fun hanging out together. Each person had their own bed and just a few had to share a bathroom. We learned that the thermostat for the two bedrooms on the main level is in the living room. There was no hot water in the kitchen, the baseball room downstairs or in the apartment above the garage. The shower drain was super slow in the bedroom main level on the left. We have notified management of all of these things. Just wanted to let you know in case they are not fixed before you come. None of these things damped and our time together. We thoroughly enjoyed the downstairs area where we were able to hang out, play pool, darts and have drinks together. We enjoyed the kitchen table where we played games and had lots and lots of laughs. We enjoy the spaciousness of the house and how everyone had their own place to go when it was time to go to bed. Awesome place to stay!!

Beautiful home, wonderful family vacation-but general upkeep needed
The house was wonderful and was very clean when we arrived. We had 12 family members stay-from 19 to 70, and everyone enjoyed the eclectic uniqueness of the home. There are issues that need to be addressed on this property that have obviously been ignored for some time. The main fridge is barely cooling. The freezer works fine, but the ice drawer is broken and should be fixed or at least labeled. The bottom oven in that kitchen doesn’t close, either. The kids finally found a remote control in the closet by the master bedroom that operated all the tvs. There are probably 20 remotes laying around the house that don’t work to operate any tv. At the very least, the non-operable remotes should be thrown away and the one that does work should be labeled and put somewhere easy to use. This day and age, a common area tv that people can use to log into their streaming services would go a long way. A few other issues is that there was only one dishcloth in the whole house and we could have used more of them, as well as potholders and more towels. I don’t believe that there were working lights by the hot tub, which made it dangerous at night. Lastly, there is a strong sewer smell in the room above the garage. From the reviews, it has been an issue for some time. We had to leave the windows open to make is somewhat tolerable. There is also a heavy sewer smell in the backyard, especially in the morning. As i said, we had a wonderful stay for the most part, but there is general maintenance and upkeep of the property that needs to be done.

Mansion in the Mountains
This is our second time staying there for a month. We stayed Sept 2022 and now Sept 2023. The main house at Big Bear Estates is an incredible house with everything you could want. It has 6 spacious bedrooms, a fabulous kitchen, a beautiful porch with a killer view, and a great playroom with an additional bar, pool table and even a piano. Fireplaces throughout are great but the big fire table on the porch with the wrap around couch and seating was our favorite place to hang out. The tennis court is in great shape and the hot tube was a daily favorite. The location can't be beat. The house comes with so many extra features I can't name them all. The Kitchen contains every possible utencil, dishes, etc you could ever want... including a gas stove. Double dish washers came in handy for entertaining. This house is perfect for entertaining. High speed Spectrum Cable internet is critical if you are doing business from this location. Even the back up whole house generator came in handy once when the power went out. The other thing you will find is one of the most increadible art collections I have seen. There are beautiful pieces from around the world. It is truly a unique rental. We only had a couple super minor complaints but Vacasa did thier best to resolve them quickly. There are too many TVs, Direct TV boxes, Cable TV boxes, stereo systems, whole house speakers, and about 30 different remotes with no instructions. Since we stayed a month and I'm technical, I figured it out but for the short term visitor, figuring it all out would be a challenge. Otherwise I would highly recomend this increadible house.

So close
The place is so close to being awesome but the lack of maintenance really shows! 1) We were given a gate code, the gate was not closed when we arrived nor did it ever close we fretted it might close on us at anytime. 2) the koi pond constantly leaks over the entrance way. 3) way too many light switches that seem to do nothing, labels are easy 4) guidance on the house surround system would be nice, never could figure out the downstairs and it was the third day before finding the controls for upstairs. Also would be helpful to dispose of all the old remotes and components. It is just confusing.5) were never able to get the TVs to work in any of the downstairs bedrooms the garage loft bedroom and the master bedroom. 6). The sliding glass doors and decks that were off limits were very inconvenient 7). The basement bedroom with twin beds had a blind in such a tangle it could not be lowered. 8) The dishwasher near the sink has a broken mechanism on the soap/pod dispenser. 9) the master bedroom was horrible! TV did not work, lights and heater in the commode room would not turn on, we used a flashlight. No power in the outlets. The GFI plug was tripped but would not reset. No lights in the closet either. Mold in multiple places in the shower. And the mattress was so broken down and hollow in the middle that we would roll into it and could not move away from each other. Finally the antiquated toilet had to hold handle for 10 seconds. There is more but your field limits length

Wonderful View and Huge House
The house and grounds were beautiful. Although it had a wonderful view of the mountains it was still not too far from a grocery store, the dump and restaurants. There were wonderful adventures within 45 minutes drive. Unfortunately there were not enough towels, toilet paper and one bed was unmade. And there was no laundry detergent. There were minor issues in the house that need repair. But we enjoyed our stay.

Great stay in a gorgeous property!
We loved our week in Waynesville staying at this fantastic property! The layout of the house is perfect for bigger families. A huge plus is that there are 2 bedrooms with private baths on the entry level so my 85 year old parents never had to use stairs! The view from the back deck is breathtaking and the sunsets amazing. Probably the cleanest house we’ve ever rented. Close to Asheville, tubing in Canton, and the waterfall trail. Perfect week!

Highly recommend!
Great all around! Very well kept and an awesome time for the family vacation or a quick get away from home. I will add that the only thing I found displeasing is the hot water heater was having an issue. Nothing major over all 5 stars because the house is just that amazing. Will return soon!
